President Donald Trump is considering firing Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, multiple people familiar with the discussions tell CNN.
Such an action could potentially further Trump's goal of trying to put greater limits on special counsel Robert Mueller.
Trump has long been angry at top Justice Department officials, who he feels have not done enough to protect him from Mueller's ongoing probe.
Some of Trump's legal advisers are telling him they now have a stronger case against Rosenstein. They believe Rosenstein crossed the line in what he can and cannot pursue. And they consider him conflicted since he is a potential witness in the special counsel's investigation because he wrote the memo that justified firing former FBI Director James Comey.
The legal advisers also believe they have successfully argued to the American public that the FBI is tainted and think they can make the same case against Rosenstein. A senior administration official said the White House has been discussing potential options with key congressional Republican leaders, fearful of "blindsiding them." A person familiar with the conversations says a top congressional Republican advised the White House not to fire Rosenstein.

Fire them all. Theyre enemies of the US system and Sessions - who is not an enemy but just weak - should never have let them get started.
Dershowitz replacing Rosenstein is an interesting idea. I doubt he would take the job, though.
Trump is waiting to see how the House goes in November...If republicans keep the House, I believe then hell start firing the SOBs...
Yep. No need for a GOP Civil War right now. Mueller’s cake is already baked, anyway. I expect Sessions & Rosenstein will resign after the midterms. Right now their only goal is keeping the FIB crimes hidden until after the midterms.
Awesome metaphor, my goodman.
:)
Sessions needs to go.
Now.
Dershowitz has skeletons....
Not gonna happen
If -- big if -- the CNN story can be trusted, then translation: Some senator (looking at you Linda Graham) told CNN the advice he gave to the President.
I’m absolutely not suggesting that the whole bunch doesn’t deserve dismissal...and prosecution.I’m only pointing out the *political* ramifications of dismissal...as I see them.
This is the situation on the ground...Mueller is going to give Congress a big long list of crimes, so called obstruction of justice, etc. A legal fig leaf handed to Congress on a silver plater in which to impeach President Trump. And they WILL. It will be their duty dontcha know. Uphold the rule of law and all.
All the talking heads on TV and elsewhere that are telling Trump not to FIRE mueller are FARKING IDIOTS.
Make Congress try and impeach Trump by exercising his constitutional right to fire Mueller. Why wait until Mueller presents his case to Congress so that these rinos, neverTrumpers and hillary voters in congress can have the cover of law to impeach Trump?
Thus endeth the lesson
Sorry, waste of time to read anything from CNN.....
Trump cant possibly think hes going to wait until November. He wont even be president by then, if the Dems and the official GOP have their way.
Do it now. Get rid of these people, because at this point its honestly going to make no difference one way or the other for Trump, but it might make it easier for Trumps successor.
At 11:30pm this coming Friday, Trump should fire Mueller, Rosenstien and Sessions
There comes a point in any war when you have to take a big risk. We are in a cold civil war. Time for big risks.
Very good post.
My thoughts exactly. I hope this once, they are reporting something true! Trump should definitely fire Rosenstein and not think twice about it.
One of the girls on Epstein’s island testified about AD being there, too.
No one could blame him for firing Rosenstein. He’s dirty as they come and there is proof of it. Sessions could then take over since no collusion has been found.
Trump will be there in November....
