Steve Bannon Gives White House Script to Derail Russia Probe
Newsmax ^ | April 11, 2018 | Jason Devaney

Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon has spoken with people in the West Wing and in Congress about a new plan to knock the Russia investigation off the rails, according to a new report.

The Washington Post reported Wednesday night Bannon has a proposal he is presenting to people in President Donald Trump's circle. The plan is designed to protect Trump as the Department of Justice probe into Russia collusion continues.

The multi-pronged approach, according to the Post, includes firing Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, instructing the White House to stop cooperating with FBI special counsel Robert Mueller, and asking Trump to cite executive privilege both forward and backward, which would make interviews Mueller's team has conducted with White House staffers inadmissible to the investigation.

"The president wasn't fully briefed by his lawyers on the implications" of not invoking executive privilege, Bannon told the Post. "It was a strategic mistake to turn over everything without due process, and executive privilege should be exerted immediately and retroactively."

Bannon also suggested Trump should fire Ty Cobb, a member of the White House legal team working on the Russia matter.

Rosenstein is supervising Mueller's Russia investigation, which began last spring over allegations Trump's campaign colluded with Russia. Rosenstein signed off on the search warrant that led to Monday's raids at two offices, an apartment, and a hotel room tied to Trump's personal lawyer Michael Cohen.

Trump has indicated he might fire Mueller, which according to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is not allowed under the Code of Federal Regulations. Other reports say Trump may fire Rosenstein, which would be legal.

Bannon has yet to bring his ideas to Trump himself, according to the Post, instead having conversations with others over the phone and in person.

Why in God’s good name is Bannon talking to the Bezos Post?

Because he’s a prima donna who thinks he knows more than anyone and needs to keep reminding everyone. If he had a serious plan, be would present it quietly to the administration.

“I can see why he wanted to bring his daughter and son in law on board. He didn’t know who he could trust.”

Agreed, but Ivanka has proven to be a Liberal loose cannon and should be sent home to mind her kids and the family business.

As I said, I don’t think they should be there. They don’t seem to have any MAGA political ideals.

“He just needs to tell Sessions to do it”

Sessions is a deep-state compromised rat bastard. The last thing Sessions would do is listen to Trump. Besides, Magoo thinks the DOJ is an independent agency and any communications that Trump would direct to the AG would be construed as obstruction of justice. Magoo would pass on that ‘transgression’ to Mueller’s team.

No, Trump needs to fire all 3 of these aholes last year. sessions, rosenstein and mueller. Then charge them with treason.

“Bannon is right. Fire Rosenstein and keep Mueller focused on Russia. It’s better to manage Mueller than to fire him.”

Bannon is dead wrong. Mueller needs to be fired ASAP.

Maybe Bannon's not the one doing the talking to the Post.

--------

Stephen K. Bannon, who was ousted as White House chief strategist last summer but has remained in touch with some members of President Trump’s circle, is pitching a plan to West Wing aides and congressional allies to cripple the federal probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election, according to four people familiar with the discussions.

Trump needs Brendan Sullivan as his attorney, best known for defending Oliver North during the Iran Contra Hearings. Sullivan is getting up there in years, but is hands down the best white-collar criminal defense attorney and a pit bull who goes on offense.

There is a very simple solution to this problem:

Have Jeff Sessions switch Cabinet positions with the Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen.

Both are already Senate confirmed, so there is no chance for Senators to obstruct. Nielsen has no ties to the campaign, served in the Bush administration, and received numerous government contracts under the Obama administration.

If Nielsen steps in at Justice, she will not be under any recusal, and thus will effectively strip Rosenstein of his oversight responsibility for the Mueller investigation, pushing Rosenstein back down to Deputy AG status. Then she can decide if she wants to keep him in her department staff altogether.

Nielsen can then begin to rein in Mueller, stop approving abusive witch hunt raids, and pressure Mueller towards a deadline.

“I agree. If it doesn’t get done, America is finished.”

What does America stand for now? What does it represent now? When those in power act like the Stasi, the KGB, or the Gestapo, and most of the media breathlessly support it, what is different about America than any other corrupt system in which freedom is crushed under the boot of the state?

The only hope we have is if the majority of the American people still believe in American freedom, liberty of the individual, equality under the law, and the bedrock principles upon which this nation was founded. Unfortunately, after watching urban liberals embrace overt government abuse of power against a duly elected President - because they literally hate him, I'm not optimistic.

We are a nation torn apart.

Trusted? She's running Homeland Security now. If she can be trusted with that, why not Justice?

Besides, anything is better than what we have right now.

And the Washington Post is where he publicizes this. He’s not to be trusted.

“Just when I thought Steve Bannon couldn’t be any dumber, he goes and does something like this.”

I hope this was just cheap rhetoric.
Bannon may have made errors but he is no dummy. He was the architect of Trump victory and the brightest and most valuable asset of Trump’s team. And a true patriot.

Exactly. Even a dead horse as an AG would be better (and definitely less harmfull) than Useless Sessions.

Today's Kurt Schlichter column suggests that Trump should replace Sessions with Scott Pruitt at EPA.

That works for me, too, since Pruitt was the Oklahoma Attorney General for six years. I'd rather see him switch with Sessions rather than outright fire Sessions, just to avoid the Senate confirmation fight going into the midterm elections. There is no need to give Democrats another platform to leverage.

“Bannon has yet to bring his ideas to Trump himself, according to the Post, instead having conversations with others over the phone and in person.”

Translation: Bannon’s a flake and a leaker. Trump won’t give him the time of day, or let him past his secretary. So he blabs sh!t like this to WaPo, which is desperate for dirt to dish.

I’d like to see Federal Marshalls break down the doors of Mueller, Rosenstein and Comey in the middle of the night and arrest them for treason.
