New York Lawyer Burns Himself To Death In Protest (against Fossil Fuels)

A prominent New York lawyer has died after setting himself on fire in Brooklyn's Prospect Park to protest against the use of fossil fuels.

David Buckel, 60, had been well-known for his work on behalf of the LGBT community, as well as with environmental groups.

A suicide note near the lawyer's remains said he had immolated himself using fossil fuel to symbolize the damage humans are doing to the Earth.

Buckel had also reportedly sent the note to multiple news outlets, including The New York Times, warning that people were dying early deaths as a result of breathing in bad air.

“Pollution ravages our planet, oozing inhabitability via air, soil, water and weather,” Buckel wrote in his email to the Times.

“Most humans on the planet now breathe air made unhealthy by fossil fuels, and many die early deaths as a result—my early death by fossil fuel reflects what we are doing to ourselves.”

What if three or four million of them did that? Don’t you think we’d all reconsider our attitudes about the message he was trying to send?

If you’re going to kill yourself, why would you use what must be one of the most painful methods available?

Deconstruct the story we’ve been told here...

It takes hours for a body to burn, and who would do a “protest suicide” alone, in the dark, in the middle of the night?

No, this gay LAMDA/pedo lawyer had a lot of reasons for people to do away with him.

This is fake news/perfect murder set up.

how can we make this into a “fad”. It is a small part in making American Great Again but it helps. If you know a liberal lawyer, please encourage him to get in on this new fad.

I’d like to hear reports of Al Gore following suit. It would be his inconvenient truth.

And why would you start your “protest suicide” after Midnight? The body was found at 6 AM and it takes hours for a body to burn like this.

Something seriously wrong with this story about the death of a LAMDA/pedo lawyer... who probably was a man who knew too much.

This story reads like a rejected LAW AND ORDER script.

What do you call a lawyer who burns himself to death?

A good start.

[David Buckel, 60, had been well-known for his work on behalf of the LGBT community, as well as with environmental groups.]

That explains things.

Right you are on well made points.
Especially the fact that oil is not entirely the “fossil fuel” we’ve been mislead to believe.
Oil deposits are ever renewable, thanks to The Deep Hot Biosphere...

If this were a Buddhist monk’s action, as was witnessed in Bangkok 1972, I would have more to say, but ...

it was a New York City lawyer.

Oil is found at depths as far down as five miles. As there were never dinosaurs buried that deep and given that oil only goes up in the strata, like a bubble in water, there must be other mechanisms producing it than dead dinosaurs. Oil wells that were played out in the ‘40’s are producing again, so we obviously don’t understand where oil comes from.

All often rebutted points.

This article is several years old, but gives a pretty good overall view. It’s major fault is that it does not take fracking into account.

Most of the evidence is for biotic oil origins. There may be some abiotic oil, but as a practical matter, it does not matter much.

Fag is a piece of kindling in Brit-speak, or a cigarette. So what Brits call a fag, we call a butt.
