This is the appropriate opportunity now for Trump to agree with her and threaten to withdraw from NATO where we do all the heavy lifting if the EU does not raise defense spending to 2% of GDP. He might even consider threatening withdrawal of the nuclear umbrella from Western Europe (not Eastern Europe) unless the EU agrees to pay 3% annually of their GDP to the US to recompense us for extending it to them and partially pay the R and D costs we have shouldered to develop it. No more free rides.
By all means, see how that works out for you Merkel. We’d be happy to not have to figure propping up the security of Europe into our budget every year.

Well, about friggin’ time! Why should American taxpayers protect people who hate us and look down on us? On a trip to London a couple of years ago I ran into blatant anti-Americanism. I vowed never to spend another penny there. I had much the same treatment in oil-rich socialist Norway.
