Europe can no longer rely on the United States to protect it, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said today, urging the bloc to take its destiny in its own hands.
"It is no longer such that the United States simply protects us, but Europe must take its destiny in its own hands, that's the task of the future," she said, after US President Donald Trump left traditional allies scrambling by ditching the landmark Iran nuclear deal.
Maybe they can meet and divide up the spoils...the EU can be the door-mat on the floor.
I actually found Brits outside of London to be much friendlier. Many were interested in striking up conversations and had lots of interest in America. But our most recent London experience was very unpleasant. We were insulted just for being American, not for anything we did or said. Screw 'em.
Europestan? I should say WesternEuropestan. The eastern countries are in fine shape with the US. The western Europeans have brought every bit of their troubles on themselves. What Merkel should have said is they can no long depend on us to bail them out again.
They cannot be protected when they keep admitting Muslims and others who are dedicated to destroy them.

Yes, by all means. Start spending your own damned money for your national defense and don’t rely on the largess of America.
Well Angela, that’s what happens when you turn the place into something not worth protecting.
Is this going to be Merkel’s newest excuse for not paying NATO what Germany owes?
Well gee Mutti.....maybe you could (brace yourself)...start relying on yourselves.
Novel and shocking idea I know.
The United States has never relied on Europe to protect her.
Let’s withdraw from NATO. Its long past time we stopped providing for the defense of others who have long since been able to provide for their own defense.
It’s about time Europe picked up its own tab.
Oh I’m sure that there are some and yes I have met some lovely people while traveling, not in London though, rude, insulting and obnoxious are the kindest things I can say about them.
I will never go again and will not miss it!
>>Its about effing time. They needed to take control of their own after WWII.<<
That’s exactly the way I see it. Western Europe has been in the self-destruct mode for decades, and I see no reason why the U.S. should pay for the cost of their folly.
>>Good take care of yourself you will be better off.<<
Perfect response in just 10 words!
>>Germany won WWII<<
Yep. But sadly Deutschland and her neighbors are losing the war they’re now in with the Muslim invaders, and this time there’s no Charles “The Hammer” Martel to turn defeat into victory.
Ah, Micro & Macro -- aka, Stale M&M's.
I freely admit I know nothing about foreign policy, but, like it or not, we do need, if not “friends”, then cooperative countries in the EU, if for no other reason, than to be able to have air and sea bases in order to protect our interests. We cannot be total isolationists, however tantalizing the thought. They need us, more than we need them, right now, so they’ll come around, UNLESS they all join forces openly against us, (Which prophecy says they will, eventually). They still probably need us until such time as they do all join forces. The muslim issue is what has separated us so drastically, and if we are getting to that point in prophecy, it will probably continue. The other most dangerous issue, is technology, run amok. Combine intolerance for JudeoChristian values, with technology, and we’ll have a real disaster on our hands. Are we not at the beginnings of this already?
