The shelter's euthanasia technician Amanda Dinwiddie says six of the dogs are believed to be standard dachshund and terrier mix, one is believed to be a border collie mix.

These were not dachshunds.
I agree...notice that they are described as dachshund-TERRIER mix. Hmmm...isn’t there a breed called Pitbull TERRIER? I have a feeling there should be more emphasis on the TERRIER side of the mix.
If you will keyword FreeRepublic Articles for the last week, using either “dog” or “pitbull”, in General/Chat, you will find the information that Amanda Dinwiddie
1) Did not euthanize these dogs.
2) Is not a veterinarian.
3) Is a pit bull owner and propagandist.
EXTERMINATE THE BREED!

Terriers can be mean little shits when they aren’t properly trained. But I have always found dauchsands to be very miled mannered dogs.
Too many people own dogs that shouldn’t be allowed to.

i don’t think anyone said they were dachshunds. The story said most of the dogs were dachshund-terrier mix. Based on their appearance I’d say that’s a pretty accurate description.
Of course, the dachshund was originally bred to hunt badgers, so they are short-legged little bad-asses, and would be perfectly capable of perpetrating a fatal attack on a person - especially a pack of them.
Did you watch the video and see the dogs. Apart from being dogs, they have virtually none of the typical characteristics of pit-bulls. It’s more likely they are mutts which are predominantly dachshund and rat-terrier (or other similar smaller terrier).
No, I hadn’t noticed there was a video, but I just watched it now. The one thing I noticed from the video is that they said the dogs were knee high and max 40lbs. which is small for a pit bull but way too large for a dachshund—that poor woman!
