Good reply. The Monarchy is required to avoid staking out partisan political positions. Americans, of all people should understand that — you had a lot to do with diminishing the Monarch’s political powers (something to do with a ruckus about 250 years ago).

The British Army isn’t the ‘Royal’ army, it’s just the army, because the modern army is descended from Cromwell’s New Model Army and thus Republican in origin and unlike the Royal Navy and RAF exists at the pleasure of Parliament and the legality of its existence has to be renewed every 5 years because the 1689 Bill of Rights demands that only Parliament may approve the existence of a standing army.
