Senate Republicans Are Newly Hopeful About the Midterms. For Good Reason.
New York Times ^ | June 2, 2018 | Jonathan Martin

After a turbulent first year confronting friendly fire from President Trump, Senate Republicans are entering the summer before the midterm elections feeling more hopeful about retaining their narrow majority than at any time since the president’s election. And for good reason.

Mr. Trump is enjoying a modest increase in his approval ratings this year and, as important, is attacking Democrats rather than inciting the internecine feuds that could depress Republican turnout. The economy continues to grow, as demonstrated by Friday’s unexpectedly strong jobs report, while unemployment has fallen to levels unseen since 2000.

Republicans, already on the offensive thanks to a Senate map that includes 10 Democratic-held seats in states Mr. Trump won, have seen nearly every electoral variable turn in their direction in recent months: They have averted disaster in the West Virginia primary, successfully recruited their preferred candidates in North Dakota and Florida, and watched a renegade Republican challenger wane in one of Mississippi’s two Senate races. […]

“The Republican caucus in the Senate is feeling substantially more optimistic now than at this time last year,” said Senator Roy Blunt of Missouri, predicting his party will gain a handful of seats. …

If everything breaks the GOP’s way, they could pick up ten seats, giving the GOP a filibuster-proof majority.

Bills that once died in the Senate should pass easily.

More Republicans need to be elected to the House and Senate to pass a conservative agenda.

And get more federal judges quickly confirmed.

I like it.

If cowards and spenders are elected or reelected, business as usual.

Dummies got the booby prize in DNC head Perez and his sidekick---co-chair Muzzie loudmouth Keith Ellison.

Perez recently declared "abortion-on-demand" is Democrats' ticket to victory.
So if that hasnt been working, I guess Perez is looking at infanticide, assisted suicide, or perhaps mercy killing of the disabled as winning Democrat issues.

============================================

In Kansas, Repub Estes won by eight points; Dumbo Ossoff in GA failed to prevent a runoff...even after every prog/Dumbo and his second cousin from East Overshoe, USA, sent Ossoff some 10 million dollars. Earlier Democrats lost again b/c they failed to flip Zero Seats in Four Blue State Special Elections.

These latest total Democrat humiliations by the Russians occurred right after DNC genius Tom Perez bragged Democrats would show that that "resistance to Trump" could be translated into electoral victories.

To add insult to injury, the Minnesota, Connecticut, Virginia Democrat losses are the states the Russians threw to Hillary in the 2016 presidential election.

Go figure.

============================

Watch carefully as Democrats expose themselves as the crud they really are. Every Dem candidate's campaign will be the same:

<><> avoid the press;

<><> take no strong stand on any issue;

<><>focus on saying over and over again that Trump stinks.

<><> crumbs

Democrat candidates will be flapping their mouths, trying to make gullible voters believe they support "something." This is the loser DEMS at their worst ----how they dial up "feeling good" about themselves.

Well, that scenario means the departures of Flake/McCain/Corker and getting the likes of Sasse and other RINOs under control. The worst part of the past 2 years has been watching the “NeverTrump” Republicans in the Senate.

What would be really nice (actually essential) is fewer RINOS and more real conservatives.

Considering that the NYT is to the Democratic Party what Pravda was to the Bolsheviks, the pessimism of this article is likely intended as a wake-up call to NYT readers (aka Democrat donors) to open up their checkbooks.

What makes you think the GOP has any interest in actually doing anything other than the same ol’ business as usual of the last 5 decades?

With Manchin a 13-point lead over Morrisey in WV, how can ten seats be gained?

Lol.. they did so much with wall funding and obamacare.
They are excellent at passing each chuck n nancy spending resolution. How many have they passed without wall funding?
By all means, lets give them more seats so they can spend more, faster.
The new h1bs .. wow.. those were just what we wanted... and no veto on that either.
The stunning American Kids last policies are... winning.

The poll of 543 likely voters was conducted on May 22 and has a margin of error of 4.2 percent.

Forty-three percent of poll respondents were Democrat, 35 percent were Republican, and 22 percent were Independents or in another party.

WHAT??

Senate Republicans will to a 62/38 majority because the Democrat party is imploding in a civil war that the far left Crazies are winning. They will kill any chance the ordinary Inane Democrats could have had of lying their way back to power.

The GOP has a way of screwing things up and here’s plenty of time to do so.

They’ve never been good at getting their message out even with Trump handing them the message.

I think you might see a few blue states Senate seat flip, too. I just read that United Technologies just bought some cash back from overseas and is hiring 3000 people, mostly in Connecticut. They said it was because of the tax cuts...

President Trump needs to visit WV 3 or 4 times prior to November election and help Morrissey pull this out. He crushed Hellary in 2016. Surely the good folks of WV will toss out Manchin this election.
