Radical plan to split California into three states earns spot on November ballot (YES!)
LA Times ^ | 6/12/18 | JOHN MYERS

California’s 168-year run as a single entity, hugging the continent’s edge for hundreds of miles and sprawling east across mountains and desert, could come to an end next year — as a controversial plan to split the Golden State into three new jurisdictions qualified Tuesday for the Nov. 6 ballot.

If a majority of voters who cast ballots agree, a long and contentious process would begin for three separate states to take the place of California, with one primarily centered around Los Angeles and the other two divvying up the counties to the north and south. Completion of the radical plan — far from certain, given its many hurdles at judicial, state and federal levels — would make history.

It’s not gonna pass.

California is 50 some odd electors every presidential cycle.

They’re not gonna let that monopoly get busted up.

Two of the states would have decent representation.

That’s why folks want to break away the most Conservative part of the state.

The way the split is proposed, no way in hell. All you’ll get is three liberal states instead of one. No way, no how, no way in hell, should that split ever take place.

As long as a wall is built around the blue section, and no one gets out, great!

The three state solution is BAD

Agreed. This strategy just might work in a state like Illinois.Make Chicago a separate state and the net result might be two new Republican Senators. But any split up of California would just result in additional Rats in the Senate.

Isn’t Texas the only state which can legally split itself into 4 or is it 5 states?

This smells like something very rotten.

3 states means 6 liberal Senators! Swinging the Senate into perpetual Neo-Marxist hands from now on.

Winning?

Three states, six Senators and Dem control of the Senate.

No thanks.

They can split CA into three states, with six senators, when they split Idaho into three states, with six senators.

All of the ‘three states’ would soon be overrun with leftist liberals or their stupid supporters which would give four more democratic senators. not a good idea

The three state solution is BAD

Correctimundo! Six democrat Senators, instead of two we have now. And that means four more democrat EVs in the Electoral College. You know that the new states will be "gerrymandered" to produce this result.
