FLASHBACK: Mexican kids held for months as punishment for border-crossing (2015 article)
The Washington Post ^ | March 11, 2015 | Joshua Partlow

LAREDO, Tex. — Last spring, as Central American children flooded into Texas in a way he had never seen in his three-decade career, Border Patrol agent Robert Harris decided to experiment.

His intelligence analysts estimated that 78 percent of the guides smuggling other migrants were Mexicans younger than 18 — teenagers often hired or conscripted by drug cartels that knew they would not be prosecuted if caught — and he wanted to attack this loophole.

“Why don’t we remove these juveniles from the smuggling cycle?” Harris, the outgoing commander of the Laredo sector of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, recalled thinking.

Now, as a result of that decision, young Mexicans are being held for months without charge in shelters across the United States, sometimes without their parents’ knowledge. Since the program began in May, 536 juveniles have been held — 248 of whom have been deported to Mexico after an average stay of 75 days, according to Border Patrol statistics. Mexican authorities say some of these repeat border-crossers have spent as much as six months in U.S. custody while they await an appearance before an immigration judge.

It appears the drive-by media can't remember a lot of their own reporting from before Trump took office or had even announced he was running. A significant number of children that have been detained are being used by drug cartels and human traffickers. Securing the border would greatly curtail this inhumane use of children and free up ability to deal with legitimate asylum seekers. Imagine what could be done if the media actually reported factual information to the people instead of being purely agenda driven to damage people they don't like politically rather than informing people.

It is partly Orwellian (history is changed to suit the needs of the party) and partly laziness.

***WARNING***

WaPo (A Whale of Poo) - Dishonored in Trump's 2017 Top Ten First Annual Fake News Winners AKA Among the Top Ten Biggest Liars of the Lying Leftist Media

Don’t believe these Lying Leftist Media outlets that proved themselves during the 2016 campaign to be operatives of the DNC and intentional liars. They are presumed to be lying and we should presume what they publish is a lie. The presumption can only be rebutted with the outlet providing clear and convincing evidence they are not lying.

Why not post the TRUTH about the lies? You don't have to use the liar as the source to post a headline that alerts readers to a published lie. Use yourself as the source or a reasonably reliable source that addresses what the Lying Leftist source is saying. That way you have a headline and a source that your readers can reasonably rely on and they go away more informed about the lie AND the truth.

If this story is true and has some redeeming value, at least get the story from a reasonably reliable source, not from a known Lying Leftist operative posing as a “news” organization. You’ve done the Patriotic Right a service. Much better than the mindless repetition of lying sources and their lying headlines.

If we’re told a lie, don’t repeat it. Neutralize the lie by speaking the truth. Lies aren’t defeated by repeating the lie. Lies are defeated by repeating the truth. We should have our eyes on the prize - in this case, politically, what it takes to recover our Free Constitutional Republic. That should be what we major on and focus on.

IMO, if a poster can't be bothered to do that, then they shouldn't post. If they're going to be bothered to post, do it right. We're on a mission here.

Yes, imagine. Imagine we had the power to stop the LEFT MEDIA CARTEL but chose not to.

The LEFT MEDIA CARTEL will never report the news until they have new competition. There will not be new competition if we keep funding them.

You could really feel the outrage at the governmental process in that article.

It took Trump being elected to make this so bad that they just cant keep silent any more.

Agree with everything you said except we are just spitting in the wind unless we take down the LEFT MEDIA CARTEL monetarily. Stop funding them so new competition can enter the market. 20 million people get their “news” from the big 3 broadcasters. Yes, Fox is on top in cable but you are talking 2 million tops. Plus you have to throw in the LEFT MEDIA CARTEL cable channels, maybe, 3 million.

So 23 million v 2 million. Spitting in the wind unless we stop funding the LEFT MEDIA CARTEL. Cable subscriber fees keeps the LEFT MEDIA CARTEL cable channels afloat because they are always in the basic bundle. Call your cable company ask if they have a la carte programming. They dont. Cancel your subscription and tell them you will be back when they offer it.

If we do nothing, they will win.

Unless we are willing to disrupt our lives, they will win.

2015, let’s see... oh, yeah, that was during the Obama regime, if memory serves correctly.

Couldn’t just selectively enforce the law then, hunh? Just had to make it stick, doncha know. A few manage to get over, and get away with it, and first thing you know, THOUSANDS will be trying the same strategy.

We’re not gonna allow kids to become a keep out of jail card for their criminal parents.

How about we don’t lock up those kids? Jail their lawbreaking parents and let the kids go in the west Texas desert....ya, that’s the right thing. /s

Isn’t subjecting a child to commission of a felony child endangerment?

While I understand where you are going with this, 5 years being separated from their parents isn’t the same, in the same breath I could care less. If a father kills his wife and doesn’t kill himself he’s separate from his kids, if he or she gets caught with crack they get separated from their parents without a second thought in this country, these people are committing crimes, and as such, they suffer the consquences. The liberal media is mischaracterizing this whole situation. Trump is right, this is the law, we just stopped having exceptions to it, if you enter illegal, adults are charged and children are not, this is the correct way to do things, if that means parents are separated that is because of their own bad decisions. This is the way the argument should be framed. Nothing else.
