Amesbury Novichok poisoning: Couple exposed to nerve agent
BBC ^ | 5JUL2018 | Staff

A man and woman found unconscious in Wiltshire were exposed to Novichok - the same nerve agent that poisoned ex-Russian spy Sergei Skripal, police say.

The couple, believed to be Charlie Rowley, 45, and Dawn Sturgess, 44, fell ill at a house in Amesbury on Saturday and remain in a critical condition.

Police say no one else has presented with the same symptoms. There was "nothing in their background" to suggest the pair were targeted, the Met Police said.

Home Secretary Sajid Javid will chair a meeting of the government's emergency Cobra committee later to discuss the developments

Read this An interesting question has been raised. If nerve agents -and in particular the so-called Novichok agents - are so deadly, why didn’t Sergie and Yulia Skripal die immediately? Instead, as countless internet conspiracy theorists have pointed out, both the daughter and father appear to be out of critical condition. This is a valid question that deserves an answer.

What is it with the UK, Russian diplomats and nerve gas.

I thought I was reading old news, but it was new news about the same thing.

Yes, this might be secondary contamination from the Skripal attack.

Because chemical weapons, and nerve agent in particular, besides being deadly, are very tricky to use. It is easy to inadvertently kill yourself if you are not careful. Additionally, the wrong environmental conditions (wind, water (humidity or rain), temperature, etc...) all impact agent effectiveness and duration (how long it remains lethal).

Most chemical agents were designed to be inserted into munitions that were either fired out of a cannon, or dropped from an airplane to target an area. Using them against a more discrete target, like an individual, is more complicated and more difficult.

Novichok, if we understand it correctly, was designed to be a binary agent, safe to carry until mixed for use. Which also increases the possibility of errors as it is prepared for use by mixing it incorrectly, or contamination by something that impairs agent effectiveness.

Any or all of the above could explain why the Skripals didn’t die.

Whoever did the original act, dropped a device or container, and the stuff is still active.

Has to be in some non-evaporative form.

If that is possible, then this is very scary.

at first, it was suggested the Skripal’s may have injected fentanyl; now heroin enters the picture in the latest mad story. and don’t forget Pablo Miller, or the fact Porton Down is in the area.
Craig Murray and his readers are not pro-Trump; are not from the right of politics yet, on this subject, the blog is essential reading. comments begin with “newest”, contain lots of the propaganda being spread in the British MSM, especially BBC and The Guardian:

5 Jul: Craig Murray: The Amesbury Mystery
We are continually presented with experts by the mainstream media who will validate whatever miraculous property of “novichok” is needed to fit in with the government’s latest wild anti-Russian story. Tonight Newsnight wheeled out a chemical weapons expert to tell us that “novichok” is “extremely persistent” and therefore that used to attack the Skripals could still be lurking potent on a bush in a park.

Yet only three months ago we had this example of scores from the MSM giving the same message which was the government line at that time:

“Professor Robert Stockman, of the University of Nottingham, said traces of nerve agents did not linger. He added: ‘These agents react with water to degrade, including moisture in the air, and so in the UK they would have a very limited lifetime...

According to the Daily Telegraph today, the unfortunate Charlie Rowley is a registered heroin addict, and if true Occam’s Razor would indicate that is a rather more likely reason for his present state than an inexplicably persistent weaponised nerve agent...

***Naturally, there is no mention in all the reports today of MI6’s Pablo Miller, who remains the subject of a D notice...

Maybe they were planning to use it on someone else, and were careless handling it.

If exposed directly they should be dead, or pretty close to it.

Who are these people?

Retired from THE Corrections in 2003. We had to have gas training every year. At that time, we had CS and CN gas. Most were for use with the gas gun, but we did have a hand-held aerosol that could be used in enclosed areas, for example, extracting a combative inmate from a cell. I have a cousin who works in the same system, and he told me that the state is going to be adding pepper spray to the arsenal.

When I went off to Gulf War I, we were given some weird directions that anything dropped on us...would dissipate into the air within a short period of time. I sat there and questioned this base-directive because we’d never be trained with that logic.

In this case, we are talking about four months later, and the stuff is still active?

I’ll bet the entire area around this neighborhood is evacuated within seven days, and people will be forced for a year to live elsewhere.

For all of us doing our homework we know for instance that VX nerve agent hydrolysis and is subsequently subjected to further oxidation etc as you can see in the ref given above

Is the same argument valid for Novichok?

Vladimir Uglyov, one of the men credited with inventing the “Novichok” series of nerve agents, told The Independent that he was unsurprised that the substance had hung around.

“Unlike some of my colleagues, I’ve always said that it is very stable,” he said. “It can persist for years, with nothing much happening to it. There is a very, very, slow process of evaporation.”

According to the now-retired scientist, “Novichok” can bury itself in paint, trees, and, perhaps, in wooden benches: “It can get in and remain there for a very long time. If it is on a neutral surface, it will only degrade on account of evaporation. And that would be a long process.”

What is it with the UK, Russian diplomats and nerve gas.

Sergai Skripal wasn't a diplomat, he was a British spy whose usefulness to the deep state expired.

These current events are just another part of the cover up.

The United Kingdom of Trump Haters deserves better but those who dissent from the “party line” from mainstream Nigel Farage (Trump is not supposed to meet him the government says) to the semi mainstream Tommy Robinson (thown into jail lighter sentence) to the more “extreme” Jayda Fransen (longer prison sentence) are being systematically attacked and persecuted.

This government and anything it says about ‘nerve agents’ or anything else cannot be trusted.

SOVIET propagandists during the cold war were trained in a tactic that their western interlocutors nicknamed “whataboutism”. Any criticism of the Soviet Union (Afghanistan, martial law in Poland, imprisonment of dissidents, censorship) was met with a “What about...” (apartheid South Africa, jailed trade-unionists, the Contras in Nicaragua, and so forth).

Another Novichok "incident", on the eve of the NATO summit, where Trump is expected to push on members to be more responsible and rely on the USA less (and which is to be followed by a one-on-one between Trump and Putin in Helsinki).

Timing is not suspicious, not at all.

Left the stuff in a rental house or office or pub perhaps and these new victims somehow came in contact with it. Wonder how many others have as well but were determined to have died of natural causes.
