I was recently looking for some bean seeds from Burpee - roughly $13.50 for a half-pound.

Amazon had the same seeds for about TWICE the price.

I've used overstock for years. I haven't had a bad experience yet. Use to use Amazon a lot but I'm almost completely done with it. If I see a third party seller on Amazon I try to contact them and bypass Amazon.

I have friends who sell on Ebay, Walmart partners etc, Jet et al. One of them quit selling on Amazon because of the abusive returns policy for AMZ sellers, and in 2018 Sellers cannot say no to returns.

Amazon's emphasis on customer satisfaction is what mainly keeps me placing orders there. I know that if I have a problem with anything I buy there, I don't really have a problem, because Amazon will resolve the situation to keep me as a happy customer.

I'll occasionally shop around on the internet, and place orders for some stuff from other retailers, but if Amazon is close in price, Amazon is where I'll place my order. I've never ordered anything from the other retailers you mentioned except for two purchases of used snowblower parts from eBay. If you're right that they're attracting sellers that don't like the Amazon customer-satisfaction approach, I'm probably lucky I've never had to experience dealing with them.

Probably good that your one friend won't sell on Amazon anymore. Customers don't like the experience of having to fight to get their money back if they're not happy with what they received. From what you say, Amazon is just choosing to make it plain to their retailing partners... "if you want to fight with your customers, sell your wares elsewhere. If you understand the overall value of satisfied customers that will buy and buy, year after year, then you can sell your products through our site".

That’s right. I think 90% of my ebay purchases are books.

I try to use ebay as much as possible as opposed to amazon and I also look for a seller here in flyover country rather than CA, NY etc

hmmm judging by your pro buyer reply, you love to return stuff a lot.

“Only fly by night dirtbags refuse to accept returns of their products.”

Yup. Anything else to argue that you are not? That was a general statement there bud..

Actually I return very few items so I appreciate that they are accepted without causing me grief.

And yes, I would be very hesitant to buy anything from anyone that has a no return policy. That is the sign of a shyster.

Amazon stole $200 from me when their seller went bankrupt.

No money. No product. An FU by Amazon.

I buy elsewhere. It will take 10 years to recoup my lost money.

I'd most likely feel the same way if they'd treat me that way. In my case, I've placed orders for hundreds of items over the years with Amazon, had maybe five times that I received the wrong product, or it was defective, and they resolved the matter to my satisfaction every time.

BTW, since you didn't receive the product, why didn't you just dispute the charge with your credit card company? Then at least you wouldn't be out the money.

They’ve been drifting further left of late.
Purging conservative reviews and reviewers.
Having conservative books theoretically in stock, but only having 1000 and then taking weeks to “restock”.

I’ve looked but they don’t carry any of the brands I like...it would be good if they carried reseller stuff
