Netflix shares tank after subscriber numbers miss targets

(Reuters) - Netflix Inc's subscriber growth and forecast fell short of Wall Street expectations, sending shares of the normally high-flying stock crashing 14 percent on Monday.

The company's total monthly customers reached 130 million worldwide, 1 million fewer than forecasts from Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S, as it added new programming including "Lost in Space" and new episodes of Marvel's "Jessica Jones" and "13 Reasons Why."

"We had a strong but not stellar Q2," Netflix said in a quarterly letter to shareholders.

Netflix said it had "over-forecasted" quarterly fluctuations in the pace of new customers.

Before the earnings report, Netflix shares had doubled in 2018, far outpacing the 3.7 percent gain for the S&P 500 index. In after-hours trading on Monday, Netflix shares sunk 14 percent to $343.60, down from an earlier close of $400.48.

"Investors are devastated by Netflix’s Q2 projection that went down in dramatic flames. Now future projections are suspect and that decimates valuation," said Eric Schiffer, chief executive officer of private equity firm Patriarch.

Damn Netflix, a Korean television network signed a deal with those bastards, now the majority of their shows are Netflix only*, unless, of course you go to “pirate” websites.

Good! I ended mine last month and specifically told them it was because of the Obamas and Rice.

I literally quit last night. Signed up for Hulu after whacking Xfinity/Comcast. Paying Wave $60/mo for 1GB internet.

Considered Playstation, Sling, Hulu, and Fubu. Hulu had the best sports package for under $40. Only thing I don’t get is Pac12 network.

That is a problem - football season is coming.

Making a couple of hundred thousand on a small initial investment? Who are you, Hillary Clinton betting on cattle futures? :P

If you like your Netflix, you can keep it.

I’ve never gotten into Netflix or HBO.

I hear they have original programming, but, with only 24 hours in a day, a finite amount of time to watch TV, a finite amount of money to spend on entertainment, people make their choices.

My choice has been not to get into all that. I hear about The Handmaid’s Tale or and Game of Thrones, among others, but I do not know anything about them. I have a full life without keeping up with everything in the popular culture, or the various new ways to watch TV.

Netflix shares tank after subscriber numbers miss targets

Hiring the valerie jarrett and the 0bamas (in reality, giving them their $50 Million bribe promised when he was masquerading as president) has not set well with a lot of people.

I ditched Netflix the day the Obama Deal was announced.

That miss is probably due to hiring The Obama's

How can these IDIOTS overforcast? They should've known hiring The Obama's was going to be their downfall!

If Netflix would add GOOD movies at a rate greater than one per millennium, more people would stay with their service.

If you aren’t into Netflix original programming, the pickings get slim from there.

Lots of C movies interspersed with some low B movies.

It’s why I canned them. Hulu has some good A/B movies and awesome TV package, including local channels. Super pleased so far.

I’ve been using Amazon prime a lot more for streaming stuff than Netflix. The content just isn’t there. I mostly use them for the Blu-ray rentals.
