At what point in time do we say "enough?"

Saying "enough" is fine. Siccing the government on a private business because we don't like their politics isn't.

There is one pretty famous example from about exactly one year ago (I don't want to even mention the website).

Daily Stormer. And that censorship lasted less than a day.

The most odious result of nationalizing the internet is that it freezes the current power structure with Facebook in charge of everything. Sure they will have regulators over for dinner and discussions. But the regulators will quickly be corrupted and mainly used to prevent any competition. Imagine the Dems in power again starting up a brand new internet censorship agency like Warren's CFPB with no executive, legislative or jiucidial oversight.

Oh come on now, have a little faith. This time we'll do it better. We'll write laws that can't be corrupted and we'll get the best people in place to enforce them.

Trust us, we're from the govt and we're here to help you!

It seems to me the real issue is that all of the various platforms deciding to ban Jones at the same time.

Let us agree that this is a problem which we both can see.

The internet is privately run, anyone can start, run and promote a website

To compete with companies like Youtube, Facebook or Twitter, you need about half a trillion dollars in your back pocket. This is not a realistic suggestion.

Because as soon as that is required and regulators step in, then MyTwitFace will be able to stop any competition.

That is a non sequitur. How does regulators stepping in stop competition?

The simple fact is that the internet cannot be censored.

You are attempting to "flip the script" on the conversation here. No, they cannot "censor" Alex Jones in the meaning of preventing his stuff from getting out, but that isn't the point at all.

What they can do, and have done is damage his ability to garner the normal contacts or traffic that any other person could have. Yes, he can still shout at the walls in the dark hole of some back alley cul de sac where they have forced him to remain, but his message cannot get out to the general public at large, which is entirely the point of freedom of speech.

They have made him an "untouchable" social pariah on the basis of his politics, and nothing else.

So far as I am concerned, they should be badly mauled for engaging in this sort of tactic.

Or kickstarter? Gimme a break. Any conservative can start a kickstarter.

I may be mistaken, but I seem to recall a story from last year about some people having their kickstarter accounts terminated because the people who run it didn't like their politics. I also recall Patreon doing exactly the same thing.

Here is one. It's item number 20.

https://thefederalistpapers.org/us/liberal-hypocrisy-on-tolerance-perfectly-exposed

Here is one for Patreon.

https://prowhiteparty.wordpress.com/2017/07/24/gateway-pundit-patreon-cancels-account-for-right-wing-activist/

I think I have heard of other examples of them doing this sort of thing.

I do not think you appreciate the degree to which they are at war with us.

I took Laz's comment as being Alex Jones having his team setup his own server farm. If he were to do that, he'd incur all the costs (and far more) that I identified in my post.

You're suggesting he could lease space on a server for $5/mo which would give him basic file storage, NOT streaming capabilities. (I've yet to see any streaming service say $5/mo. for a server. You may know services I don't however.)

If Alex Jones were to lease server space w/streaming capabilities, his fate would be very similar to that which he was subject to at GoogleAppleYouTubeFascistBook, etc.. Any service provider who wouldn't want the "heat" Alex Jones would bring with him could simply cut him off and kick him to the curb for some ambiguous TOS violation.

If Alex Jones had his own server farm that his team ran and managed, his only "restriction" might be his bandwidth provider and he'd be in much more control of his own destiny.

Either way, it appears this conversation is somewhat irrelevant since his website is still up, his traffic is up to his website and the bans from GoogleAppleYouTubeFascistBook seems to have driven otherwise disinterested people to his site generating more traffic and getting him a bigger audience.

To that end, GoogleAppleYouTubeFascistBook's efforts to "censor" him and minimize his audience has been an epic failure by the looks of it.

You do realize he simply private labels the same supplements sold at Whole Foods and Amazon, right? Are you really trying to argue against proven herbal supplements like fish oil and iodine? LOL

Well then, get to mauling.

Just leave the government out of it.

Your proof of this statement is exactly where?

Are you really trying to argue against proven herbal supplements like fish oil and iodine? LOL

You're assumption has no merit whatsoever and you're conflating two things that don't belong together.

He's admitted it multiple times, but you wouldn't know because you don't listen to him.

but

He hasn't sold enough fake vitamins yet.

So glad you can't edit comments on this site.

That's because reasonably intelligent people can't get past ten minutes of his nuttery. Anyone who says 9-11 was an inside job and that Sandy Hook never happened and it's all "crisis actors" isn't worth the time of day.

The fact that you admit to listening to him tells me all I need to know about you and I've no need to engage you further.

You are equating Main Street with Facebook and infowars.com with a back alley. That is exactly backwards, it places all the power in the hands of the enemy Facebook. You want our other enemy, the bureaucracy, to regulate them? Even though they are on the same side, against us?

There's a lot of history that shows that doesn't work, starting with https://www.cato.org/policy-report/mayjune-2018/untold-history-fcc-regulation FM radio.
