"No bible basis" against homosexuality Institute sets out to prove.
Sunday Times ^ | 19th August 2018 | Stephen O'Brian

A research project by an international Catholic think tank, to be launched today by Mary McAleese, is to challenge the theological evidence for church teaching that homosexual acts are "intrinsically disorder". Plans for the study by Wijngaards Institute for Catholic Research will be unveiled at Trinity College by McAleese, a former president and an outspoken critic of the Vatican. The institute will call on Pope Francis to question official church teaching on same-sex relationships. "I am hoping the project will advance an intelligent and scholarly debate about the warped, damaging, unchristian, unscientific, fake gender ideology which currently underpins Catholic teaching on LGBTI issues," McAleese told the Sunday Times.

A spokeswoman for the Institute said that tomorrow's event would address "the exclusion of gay and lesbian families from the World Meeting of Families" which it argues furthers the church's "marginalisation and demonization and" of LGBT Catholics and their relationships. The launch takes place a day before the World Meeting of Families opens in Dublin's RDS. The week culminates in a visit by Pope Francis. On Sunday, he will say mass for up to 500,00 people in the Phoenix park. The Wijngaards research will provide a critical evaluation of the arguments behind official Catholic teaching which dates from 1986 Vatican document Homosexualitatis Problema, according to Luca Badini Confalonieri, director of research at the Institute.

"Since [then], however, biology and genetics have made some progress towards understanding the causes of homosexuality. The same can be said of biblical studies, on what the Bible affirms with regard to the meanings purposes of human sexuality and sexual diversity," writes Confalonari in a preliminary paper on the research . "The question of homosexual acts is sometimes regarded as settled from the earliest days of Christianity...A process of debate and consultation would be tantamount to putting this in doubt and so, no such process has been initiated or encouraged by the Vatican. The reports aims at filling that gap." Confalonieri said the argument in the Vatican document that homosexual acts were "intrinsically disordered" was based on a belief that biological procreation was an "essential and indispensable finality" of each act of sexual intercourse. This was based on a "mistaken biological "fact" that each and every act of sexual intercourse has a procreative "finality" and "significance".

"The teaching that same-sex sexual acts are "intrinsically evil" always and everywhere is not reevealed in the Bible," he said. "Nor has it ever been shown to be essential for the truth of the Christian revelation. Accordingly, it cannot become the object of an infallible definition.

one more:
Romans 1:25-27 -
…25They exchanged the truth of God for a lie,
and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator, who is forever worthy of praise! Amen.
26For this reason God gave them over to dishonorable passions. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27Likewise, the men abandoned natural relations with women and burned with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty

(the “due penalty” for rejecting The Word being separation from Grace for all eternity)

I’ll take a double grant, thanks.

Two things:

The Flag is a piece of cloth

and

The Bible is just a book.

Indoctrinate the liddle kiddies with just those two and America disappears by high school.

well gee- the bible never mentioned that Satanism or Wiccanism or druidism was ‘always evil everywhere’ either- or that murder was ‘always evil’ either- or that necrophelia is always bad either- or bestiality, or or or...

Wow- I guess any sin can be justified by this asinine argument then?

And, speaking of saintly matters, this cheerleader for the saints most likely agrees wholeheartedly with them.

Ok, I guess a huge new Camel-Mart was needed for that location. I guess that the author for that book of the Bible just forgot that minor details.

So your link doesn’t point to an actual story, and Googling “times uk mary mcaleese” doesn’t get to the original story either. Neither does a Google on “times uk stephen o’brien”. What gives?

These discussions have NEVER been sincere.

It’s all been about validating their sexual deviances.

And pedophiles are next - want to entertain sincere debates about that? Open your mind to new ideas perhaps?

Probably most Catholics want to be modern liberal minded people and the homosexuality issue sets them squarely in the dark middles ages and in conflict with their times. So the question becomes how can we interpret Biblical text to get the meaning we want? How can we interpret the Bible to show compassion for homosexual’s lifestyle choices, to show inclusiveness for their sexual predilections, for gay marriage? Actually, it wouldn’t be that hard because other Christian Churches have done it and it would be nice to share some ecumenical common interests with other Christians.

I believe the Pope is secretly or not so secretly all for it. But it would be interesting to see what arguments they put forward, how they would twist scripture for their purposes. One argument I believe they will use is to say homosexuality supplements the Biblical concept of love and marriage — it adds to it and completes it. If anybody has any other arguments they think would be used I’d be curious to know.

Every place marriage is defined, it is defined as a union of those of the opposite sex - man and woman. You don’t even need to consider the verses which condemn actions outside of this definition.

So they’re going to engage in a “research project” rather than simply read what is staring them in the face, as well as ignoring thousands of years of church teaching.

“biology and genetics have made some progress towards understanding the causes of homosexuality”

Hilarious. You embiciles tossed biology and genetics out the window when you started “creating” mental/emotional “genders”. Just because you make stuff up doesn’t mean it’s true. And revising (redacting) the Bible to fit your sexual fantasies won’t make the Bible say what you want it to say. Ever. God ain’t as dumb as you think He is. One day it will all be made perfectly clear. And you will be speechless.
