What Kavanaugh's confirmation would mean
cnn ^ | Oct 5, 2018 | Analysis by Chris Cillizza, CNN Editor-at-large

Washington (CNN) Thursday was a very good day for Brett Kavanaugh -- maybe his best day since being chosen as Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee back in July. Friday was even better, as his confirmation to the court appeared to be sealed with three key senators deciding he's worthy of being confirmed....

...So what would it mean if Kavanaugh is confirmed Saturday? Two main things.

1. Kavanaugh on the Court would fundamentally reshape it in a more conservative direction for potentially decades to come. Lost amid the massive political fight occasioned by the allegations by Ford and Ramirez is the fact that Kavanaugh is without question more conservative than the man he is replacing -- Anthony Kennedy. Whereas Kennedy was regarded as the swing vote on the court for many years, Kavanaugh's ascension would change all that. There would likely be a relatively reliable 5-4 conservative majority on the court.

2. Trump would be a big winner. Circumstances have conspired to hand Trump a major opportunity: To put two justices on the Supreme Court within his first two years in office....

The Point: There are no asterisks next to the names of the members of the Supreme Court. Whether you got there on a unanimous Senate vote or barely survived, your vote still counts the same. And when that vote is one of only nine on the most important court in the country, with no term limits, it counts a whole hell of a lot.

So the court will have:

- Two Clinton appointees

- Two Obama appointees

- Two George W Bush appointees

- Two Trump appointees

- and one George Bush Sr appointee (Clarence Thomas)

I think we end up with a 4-1-4 court just like we had.
Roberts will be the new swinger.

It will mean a few hours of me going through liberal twitter and getting drunk on their tears. I’m sure it will mean other things, too.

I noticed that tonight CNN’s Chris Cuomo and Don LemonFresh had quite the change of tone.

With Roberts, you never know. If there’s an issue where he can something is really a tax, he will use pretzel logic to rule something constitutional.

yes, still thinking back to the Obamacare decision.

Our guys should NEVER vote for a democrat Supreme Court Justice again... let them squeak by with one vote if they ever elect another President.

I hope the next one President Trump gets to nominate will be a woman. For one thing, the optics would look good after getting two males on the USSC. Second, the potential for a rape accusation will be rendered null. Then the dims would have to, again. manufacture a false charge against her. But how has that worked for the last two named to the court? I really hope and pray President Trump has a chance to add to his ledger of Supreme Court nominees.

I think there is a new Obamacare case working its way to the court. Now that the ‘Tax’ is no longer mandatory, some states are arguing Obamacare is illegal.

They’re already on Barrett for being a Catholic, and ‘weird’ because of her kids.
