And lets remember the three Apollo 1 astronauts Roger Chaffee, Virgil Grissom , and Edward White who died in the process.
It is interesting that the movie appropriates an American achievement, very much a product of the Cold War and our national effort to beat the Soviets, and proclaims it a human achievement. But when it comes time to cast aspersions on that effort, it reverts to being a reflection of America.
“One small step for A man.”
That’s what he was supposed to say. He blew his line. For real.
That is wicked funny!
He's at least Hispanic/Indian, if not actually BLACK!
The Black Space Program deserves a movie too. That’s totally reasonable.
They had discovered that, at ANY given time, HALF the PEOPLE are BELOW AVERAGE!
Maybe Thelma Adams should investigate democrat president Wilson’s influence on the integration of the federal government programs. That would answer a lot of her ‘questions’. It probably wouldn’t change her mind tho, since he was a democrat, Wilson is absolved of all sins.
Touche.
The title reminds me of my ex.
Everything was going well. No problems.
So she made problems out of nothing.
And blamed me.
Nor, for that matter can one suggest that the particular physical & mental attributes of the specific men who made the moon landing possible, characterize most Caucasians. they don't. We are talking about specific men with very particular attributes. Are there men with similar essential attributes among those of other races? Probably there are. From which race & in what proportion?
Is there anything in reason that requires imposing some sort of racial quota system in such ventures? Any reason to inject PC absurdity into space exploration? Any reason to apologize for achievement?
Any reason for the idiotic suggestion that the celebration of specific achievement by specific heroes should be disturbing?
Misdirection: Familiar Leftist Tactic
The writer has been misled by the deliberate Leftist misdirection to a fake issue, designed to create, not solve, any problem.
Oh yeah, I saw him, and there are a couple women in there, I think.
But theyre not there according to their presence in the general population, so RACISTS! MISOGYNISTS!
Right?
Do I really need the < /s>?
Proof it wasn’t filmed on a soundstage.
Klan meeting at NASA?
The early reception for Chazelles space epic since its premiere at the Telluride Film Festival last month has been superlative. Under the National Review headline First Man is the movie of the Year, my friend and former New York Post colleague Kyle Smith joined with the majority who found the biopic 82 percent fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. He crowed: First Man is why we go to the movies.
And on top of that, the First Man is due to arrive on the real Columbus day, and the command module was named the Columbia, the old nickname for America.
Poor Thelma. It must be a conspiracy!
There was a black astronaut named Robert Lawrence but he was killed in 1967.

Excerpt: Many of the MOL astronauts transferred to NASA and flew on space shuttle missions. Had he lived, given his credentials, Lawrence would have also made it into space via the shuttle program.
