Driver, 74, says he meant no harm, just wanted to get away from 'angry mob'

The driver of a car seen in a viral video driving through a protest in downtown Portland, Ore., last week said Friday that he never tried to run them over, according to reports.

"When you have an angry mob yelling at you and beating on your car you just want to get out of there," Kent Houser, 74, told the Oregonian.

The demonstrators were protesting last Saturday after a fatal police shooting that occurred the previous week.

Yep - during the race rits of the ‘60s, I was in my Great Uncle’s car when we came to a place where a mob was beating on and rocking the car ahead of us - actually almost got it to flip.....when they saw us, they released that car and blocked the road ahead of us...my Uncle muttered the “N” word and tromped the gas...they all managed to get out of the way but there was no way he was going to let them stop us...that full-sized ‘65 Chevy Caprice barreling down was a great deterrence.

Me neither. I don't blame that kid in Charlotte for taking off when the mob started hitting his car. Unfortunately he hit another car that resulted in the death of a fat lady who war harassing another motorist at the time and who was jaywalking so she was at least partly responsible for her own death.

Unfortunately that poor confused kid will likely spend a lot of years in prison over it. He too deserves some blame in that incident. Maybe 25%. The rest is on the mob. The kid just reacted, badly as it turns out, but still a reaction and not an overt action meant to hurt anyone.

If a person at anytime prevents another person from leaving a location by their own accord by way of intimidation or actual threat, that is in the very least false imprisonment or even kidnapping.

Everyone of these assholes in that crowd should be charged with that, and if one of their victims kills them in the process of their committing a felony against them, then that’s too bad.

It's just what the left is itching for. That "Kent State moment". That one bitter clinger to step over the line and BADA BING! they have their martyrs. Then when the yellow tape comes down and the "heroes" are literally chilling out in the ME's office the area gets littered with wreaths flowers heart shaped balloons and teddy bears. Then the grief counselors get called in while the candlelight vigil is organized. 100 or so people singing This Little Light of Mine while schlepping around like extras from the Walking Dead. And of course the family's attorneys holds the pressers surrounded by relatives holding blown up pictures of their dear departed as a children, or in caps and gowns. BTW this cheesy stunt goes back to the Bernie Goetz case. And let's not forget the hack politicians demanding stricter gun control, and the celeb A-holes throwing their star power behind the gun grabbers looking pretty in front of the step and repeat backdrops spewing meaningless rhetoric about the epidemic of gun violence. And the talking heads on CNN MSNBC, etc lamenting how Trump brought a coarseness, divisiveness and nastiness to political discourse, as if there's ever been a genuine modicum of decorum in politics to begin with. SO, who are the useful idiots who will unwittingly and literally take a bullet for the team?
