Why Suburban Women Cost the Republicans the House
American Thinker.com ^ | November 10, 2018 | Steve Marks

Did suburban women cost the Republicans the House of Representatives?

Most suburban women can be easily persuaded to vote for Democrats because they do not think seriously. Serious thinking in the political sense is concerned with where we are going as a nation, our moral values, our long-term prosperity, our security, our freedom and its inherent responsibilities. G.K. Chesterton said, “Thinking means connecting things, and stops if they cannot be connected” (Orthodoxy, 1908).

Don’t get me wrong – there are many intelligent, serious conservative women in Fairfax County (not to mention the nation as a whole), but they are sadly in the minority. From my limited and unscientific perspective, the reason most suburban women voted for Democrats can be divided into three categories:

  1. They don’t have to think seriously.
  2. They have never been taught to think seriously.
  3. They really don’t want to think seriously.

They Don’t Have to Think Seriously

There was NO reason to vote for the Demons and much of the GOP’s failure was due to the opposition from the Demons.

Where do you get that idea? You seriously believe that Ward would have beaten the Demon? And Aprio’s vote added to Ward’s still would not have beaten McSally.

Zero was President because he won the female vote. Men can be awfully stupid but not that stupid. Some women appear to be clueless.

Who said anything about ALL suburban women? But the fact is clear, without the female vote the Demons would be elected in only a few places.

Straps, your suggestion that maybe Trump “planned” to lose the House is maybe the stupidest damn thing I’ve ever read on FR and there have been some doozies.

Do you know many good conservatives lost too, or barely held on? Come one, get your head out of the silly zone.

When Blacks were given the vote they voted even more for Republicans than they do Demon today.

The first and most important suffragettes were Republicans.

Ryan was not the head of the GOP and had nothing to do with recruiting candidates.

All one has to do is look at the cackling fools in the audience for all the daytime talk shows. All of which you need ID to get onto the set with, BTW. Let them all know that since they’re so supportive of The Views, liberal bias, that they will all have to welcome a migrant family into their homes. The View, or any of the others, won’t have one person in those audiences.

Question??

Is your wife Liberal? Or is she a bit more compassionate/emotional toward things?

While you look at things like that set of facts and circumstances which bring you to a certain decision?

It’s funny when you talk to some people that describe themselves as liberal or independent and then question them on issues, one by one. Not uncommon to show that some of these folks are pretty Conservative, but they’ve convinced themselves or have been convinced that they’re not.

Kaslin, you posted the article without comment.

Do you really believe women as a demographic represent what’s best for the Country?

As a simple majority, they do not in my opinion.

The women in my life, and here at FR, however, are the exception. And I have the highest regard for them — truly.

Exactly without the emotionaly vote the dems would lose every time.We need to learn how and why people vote if we want to win more.

My guess is many women decide who they will vote for inthe last two weeks of any election, this is whay the dems saturate the air waves with lying spots during that time period. It seems to work.
Its all aobut a woman’s emotions. Fail to recognize that and you will fail all together.

“The Republicans need to get their message across better”

I keep hearing that, but how do you get your message across when the media either won’t cover it or will mischaracterize it?

Stop depending on the wrong media, make them come to you like Trump does if you need them at all.

I get really sick of these meaningless strings of drivel that are basically just another way of finding a scape goat to blame for what ever didn’t work out. Don’t you know They want us divided and fighting. Men vs Women, Black vs White, Rich vs Poor etc.

Divide and Conquer. Keep the people fighting each other so no one notices what tricks and dastardly deeds are done.

I’m from Mo. And we just got rid of Claire M. and we voted a Republican back into the house. And Phyllis Schafly was one of those Suburban women once upon a time, and I’ll take votes from people like her over any limp wristed Nancy boy any day.

And by the way, when she wanted to stop the equal rights amendment, she didn’t moan about anyone’s voting rights, she got busy in her kitchen and used the phone, and defeated that when everyone told her it was impossible.

Steve Marks is an arse from an outdated past who should be writing satire instead of opining on modern politics.

He’s entirely wrong... and looks bad while saying so.

In contrast, if (which is a big question)... IF ... the GOP wants to make inroads with urban and suburban voters (regardless of gender), then the GOP has to propose solutions to modern urban and suburban problems such as:

traffic
healthcare
affordable housing
rampart public recreational drug usage such as discarded needles in children’s parks
homelessness
clean drinking water (Flint, Michigan, anyone?!)
etc.

...and here’s the deal, the GOP might not even *want* to propose such solutions.

Fine. Whatever.

...but you certainly haven’t heard GOP candidates propose solutions to those modern urban/suburban problems.

So live without their votes.

Either you want their votes or not.

Pound your chest. Act all internet-tough!

But don’t claim that they can’t think to explain why they aren’t voting for you.

They aren’t voting for the GOP because they aren’t hearing solutions from the GOP.

Don’t ask them to change. They aren’t going to make your job easy.

If you want their votes then solve their problems.

Otherwise, admit that you don’t want their votes.

Pretty offensive argument.

Suburbs are any non urban neighborhoods meant for families to live in single family houses on streets and sometimes tracts. Some are newer and some are 100 or more years old. Women who live in these areas are not lockstep in opinion or lifestyle. Some are old. Some are young and married. Some are single. Some are leftists. Some are conservatives. A lot of them have children, some young, some teens, some grown.

A lot of women are as ignorant and sheeplike as the author describes. SO ARE A LOT OF MEN. Just think of all the men who really did vote for Hillary (not the ones who just told their wives they did).

It is deeply insulting that suburban women get lumped like this into a category of total ignorance.

I have gone beyond the childish thought processes by this author, years ago, when I coined the term Gullibles. The Gullibles are of any race, any gender. I do not insult them by calling them uninformed as if by choice, or worse, like this guy does, basically stupid.

I know so many of the Gullibles, who simply believe and vote the way either their friends do, or the way their quick catch of network or cable news wants them to. I love many Gullibles, and the reasons most of them are so is because they are VERY BUSY WORKING. Some spend their entire days caring for the sick or the infirm or special needs children. Some work very hard at demanding physical jobs. They have family to attend to when work is done.

It is insulting to call busy people stupid; they don’t understand their friends and the shows they catch for some “news” don’t tell them the actual truth. Sometimes they barely have time to grab or make hot meals before another job or taking the children to the park. I give them a huge break because I’ve seen them at work and know they have spent their lives making other people safe or healthy or housed.

Our goal should be to help them catch some truth instead of one sided “media” they now get.
