Ike was very violent with Tina for many years.
Why she stayed with him, I couldn’t explain.

She was scared. She had no access to the money.

When she finally got away, it was at a gas station, with nothing in her pocket. That is hard. There are people right this second in this same situation all over. Bruised, penniless, feeling they have nowhere to go. Worse, maybe with little kids too.

Can the Stones still sing “Brown Sugar”?

No.

That has got to be that guy from SNL in the 80s. Your photo didn’t come through but that has to be him. Funny.

Yep, Garrett Morris, but that’s weird because the pic comes up for me.

More civilized men, often men like you sitting there having wives or girlfriends, safely ensconced deep within a moral framework, heap praise upon and feel envy toward the rock stars who can orgasm in any girl they want, multiple times a day.

I had my rock star dreams as a teenager. I played guitar in a band in high school in the 80s and I was aware of the status that even this afforded me. For a decent-looking boy who wasn't great at sports, guitarist in a rock band was a wonderful way to meet girls.

But I also knew even then that there was a double standard. Rock stars were allowed to get away with behavior that mortal men could not. Vince Neil could kill a man in a drunk driving accident. I would go to prison. Jimmy Page could have a 14-year old girlfriend when he was 33. I would go to prison.

This all with Ryan Adams now is interesting. I am a fan, not a huge one, but I do have his music downloaded on my iPhone. As far as I can tell, mostly he's guilty of being an asshole and a lousy husband. Also, he's guilty of acting like a "rock star" long after the party ended. And the party did end, years before #MeToo came on the scene. When the bottom fell out of the music business around 2000, artists had to start behaving themselves if they wanted to earn a profit.

Today Ryan Adams is losing all of his gear sponsorships and record deals. Radio stations are dropping his songs. The FBI is looking into his underage sexting allegations.

Meanwhile, Jimmy Page just a couple of weeks ago released a signature series Telecaster electric guitar through Fender. And I'm pretty sure a radio station somewhere today played "Stairway to Heaven." Different rules for different times, to be sure.

I think there's a fear to apply #MeToo to the music business. It's going to wipe everyone out, especially when they apply today's rules to the 70s and 80s. No one will be spared.

Pretty soon, the only thing we'll be "allowed" to listen to is hyper-sensitive folk songs...

Um... Half those old folk singers from the 60s were pedos.

I had just been turned on to Ryan Adams last week. Disappointment. I didn’t know him before.

I notice the Eagles are still big and don Henley is still out there living free; he killed one teen groupie and newly killed another. So many older musicians did a lot of very bad things and may never get called on them. It is very conflicting. I love the Eagles, I love Michael Jackson’s music, and it is difficult to reconcile that with evil behavior,

In general, if #metoo really sticks to egregious, fairly illegal behavior, it leads society in a better direction. I would fight to the death personally to help stop powerful men getting away routinely and easily with murder and the like.

We don’t need to castigate guys for flirting, hitting on adults, or having male sexuality. But it’s good to stop the Weinsteins and Lauers of the world in their tracks.

From “Its Getting Better”. He sings “I used to be cruel to my woman, and beat and kept her apart from the things that she loved”. To me it seems he was lamenting that he did it, not bragging. This woman is another unhinged loon.
