Reminds me of the bridge collapse in Minneapolis a few years ago.
Federal funds had been given to the state for road maintenance. the state legislature diverted said funds for social welfare crap instead.
Oh well, you lose.

Hey - the Feds gave them $3 Billion for the failed train deal...and they don’t want to pay it back so i say that it counts for at least the same amount of future payments to Kalifornia....kind of like a pre-paid credit card.

This is like an outtake on the movie “Chinatown.”

In the end, we get the government 1) for which we vote and/or 2) which we allow.

Money slated to maintain and repair CA dams and reservoirs (there are more than just Oroville) got "rerouted" to other "expenses". It's the California way. Just spend the money on whatever will get you re-elected, then worry about finding other sources for the spent money.

Damn residents of the state insist on passing every damn tax and bond measure that makes it to ballot. Having spent my entire life there until last fall, I hated that I had no control over what taxes and extra expenses were passed onto CA residents.

You missed it by a mere $550 million. The Chrysler Building just sold for $150,000,000.

Faulty original construction and a YUGE lack of maintenance caused this “disaster”.

They are lucky to be getting anything!

Interesting. I did not think about that. The State does have a big surplus. Thanks.

“In light of the power outages we can say...... California is venezuela west”

That will not be true until the run out of other people’s, or our nation’s, money.
