Vatican Cardinal: Encouraging Immigration Misrepresents the Gospel (Card. Sarah of Africa)

The prominent Vatican Cardinal Robert Sarah, as his newly released book is causing furor in Europe, said it is wrong to “use the word of God to promote migration.”

The Guinean cardinal, prefect of the Vatican’s Congregation for Divine Worship, said that using the Bible to promote migration constitutes “false exegesis,” adding that it is better “to help people flourish in their culture than to encourage them to come to Europe.”

In an interview last week, the cardinal condemned the Church’s push for migration into Europe in the strongest terms, insisting that most immigrants wind up “without work or dignity” and assume the condition of slaves.

“Is that what the Church wants?” he asked, adding that the Church should not support “this new form of slavery that is mass migration.”

“God never intended these fractures,” he said. [big snip]

The cardinal also offered his support for nationalist movements in Europe that wish to recover their sovereignty from Brussels.

“When I visited Poland, a country often criticized, I encouraged the faithful to affirm their identity as they have done for centuries,” the cardinal said. “My message was simple: you are first and foremost Poles and Catholics and only afterward Europeans. You must not sacrifice these first two identities on the altar of a technocratic Europe that recognizes no homeland.”

“The Brussels Commission thinks only about building a free market in the service of the great financial powers,” he continued. “The European Union no longer protects the peoples within it. It protects the banks.”

“This contemporary desire to globalize the world, ridding it of nations with their distinctive characteristics is sheer madness,” he said.

I put this in "News/Activism" because it's more about politics than religion --and I wanted it to get wider circulation.

And speaking of politics, here's a campaign for ya:

Robert Sarah for Pope!

By encouraging people to migrate to Europe, they are de facto indicating that European culture is superior to the one they are leaving. Why not emulate what Europe has in their own location?

WOW! A voice of sanity in the Vatican!?!?!?!

How long before he gets reassigned or comes down with a fatal case of the flue or something?

(I would not put assassination past the current anti-Christian occupant of the papal office)

He works in the Vatican, thus he did not come to the Vatican illegally. He is still a citizen of I think Ghana. He has no children and is not using his position to bring all his family members to Europe. I commend the Cardinal for saying what he said.

It’s my belief Francis is only encouraging the continuing attacks and murders of African and Asian Catholics and most recently France and perhaps even California as well as attacks and destruction of churches By his supporting their mono theistic claims and his refusal to condemn them and the theological Islamic claims used in doing so.

As cardinal, he is actually a citizen of Vatican City and has a Vatican passport.

Illegal immigrants of folks who just don’t like where they are, never are part of making where they are any better.

But that is a diversion from the real problem - the globalist agenda.

They don’t like you, you folks from a place with a history, language, culture & values that you call your own. They hate you. When they speak of diversity they do not mean what that term actually means. In their hands the word “diversity” is a tool to herding together a mono-culture, with no true diversity, just one and only one way of thinking - their way. What then is all the illegal mass immigration about? It’s not about “diversity”. It’s merely about culture destroying mixing, destroying on purpose what is, in order to be rebuilt on their mono-culture standard.

I’m not Catholic, but I applaud the sentiment generally. I would add a few qualifications such as saying immigration is fine up to a point, but “open borders” immigration being proposed by globalists and the UN is very destructive.

It should always be up to the individual nation to decide how many immigrants they let in, from where they admit them and to set qualifications for citizenship. To fail to discriminate and to consider the long term effects of importing many thousands of people (Muslims) who are opposed to certain foundational principle of western culture such as the right to free speech, even when if offends, and the separation of church and state is criminal.

Acts 17:26 New International Version (NIV)
26 From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands.

How refreshing! Cardinal Sarah exhibits the deep spirituality we are use to seeing in a Pope. He would be a healing presence for the Church as our next Pope. Come Holy Spirit!

Thanks for that. I have said Sarah for Pope since I first became aware of him. He is an
orthodox Roman Catholic with a giant intellect.

Not only that , but he is right on about immigration.

Our policies about immigration have destroyed both Mexico and the United States on the altar of corporate greed. Now we work on the Golden Triangle countries.

It is vicious and has robbed Mexico especially of its extended families, the jewel of the Americas.

The American Bishops are knee deep in this destruction. They are stupidly helping to destroy America, a country which because of the historically ingenious First Amendment, protected and helped the Church to grow and flourish in unprecedented freedom.

The American Church has no Sarah.

His post is by appointment, not election. Only the Pope is elected. I suspect Francis would REALLY like to be rid of Cardinal Sarah, and not sure why Francis hasn’t already appointed a replacement.
