Romney was asked about a quid pro quo and dismisses it as borderline irrelevant, which leads to the question -— WHY IS IT IRRELEVANT? It is *THE POINT*.
Absent an explicit threat to withhold military aid unless Zelensky played ball on the Biden probe, there was no wrongdoing.
Romney counters by saying that it doesn’t matter if there was a threat or not. Merely *requesting* an investigation of an American political rival that would benefit you electorally is “deeply troubling,” even if it’s no more than a request.
No it isn’t.
If Joe Biden DID withhold aid money from Ukraine in exchange for their dropping the investigation against his son’s business dealings, requesting an investigation into it is both FAIR and JUST regardless of whether it benefits you politically or not.
Notice how Romney is troubled by Trump’s request but is NOT TROUBLED by Biden’s ILLEGAL ACTIONS.
This tells us a lot about Romney’s personal values than anything else. A reporter worth his salt would have asked him the question:
“OK, you are troubled by Trump’s request, are you troubled by what Biden did?”
I’d like to hear Mitt’s response to such a question.
Salt Lake City is said to be about half non-Mormon nowadays, and the Salt Lake City metro area is a little over one-third of the population of the state. I don't know what the religious breakdown is of the state legislature but my guess would be a high percentage of Mormons, especially from the other two-thirds of the state.

Although the legislatures of several states show evidence of reconnecting with the federal government’s constitutionally limited power versus state sovereignty, because of Sen. Romney, Utah seems not to be one of those states.
