I guess I was trying to offer a word of encouragement to patriots in Virginia to trust in the Lord, stand firm and persevere.

The recall of Governors and other elected State officials is not a standard part of the original design of most of the United States.
The recall as a process came to exist in most places as part of the reforms championed by the original Progressive Movement (Progressive Era: 1890-1920).
The Progressives were concerned with finding ways to fix the extremely entrenched and corrupt local and State governments that existed in that era. (Boss Tweed being the most well known example, who looted over $25 million from New York City)
They sought to change laws so that it was harder for one man to set up and run a political machine, and that there was some mechanism to remove such a person once he was in place.
Other progressive ideas that were widely implemented were state run primaries to nominate candidates of the major parties, the initiative and referendum processes (allowing citizens to changes laws without or against the wishes of corrupt political machines), as well as the more famous progressive causes of woman's suffrage and prohibition.

This map and article in Ballotpedia shows the status of "recall of Governor" in all the States. Fewer than 1/2 the States have any provision for recall of the Governor, whatsoever.

The governor has the right to request that the trial be heard before a jury, as well as to appeal the decision to the Supreme Court of Virginia. In the event that the court finds the complaints against the governor to be valid, they are removed from office and the constitutional successor—usually the lieutenant governor—takes office.
