Right. No rag-tag group of peasants could possibly resist the power of the US military. Certainly not for long
What?? 18 years? Really? What do you call the place? AFGHANISTAN? Never heard of it.
Taliban Again Eyeing Power in Afghanistan?
Now, the counter I hear from those pushing the U.S. Military Supremacy Theory (many of whom are older vets) is that the "politicians didn't allow the US Military to win". That's an interesting theory. It is true we did forswore first use of nuclear weapons against the Taliban in our 18 year war. It's also, I recall from my youth, something that bitter Vietnam Vets claimed after the US Military defeat in Vietnam.ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN - With a draft peace agreement between the United States and the Afghan Taliban circulating after 10 months of negotiations, the insurgent group is pushing a new media campaign boasting about what it describes as the success of its past strict Islamic rule.
The Taliban was routinely condemned for brutal rule and violent tactics during its time in power in Afghanistan from 1996 to 2001, when it denied nearly all girls and women access to education and imposed strict rules over everyday life, such as a ban on television.
With the group on the verge of signing a peace agreement with the U.S. which could see an end to the 18-year-old Afghan war and the departure of U.S. and coalition troops by the end of 2020, it's revisiting its tenure in power.
The Islamic Emirate (Taliban) foremostly prioritizes delivering freedom and prosperity to its country and oppressed people, the Taliban asserted in a statement released Monday while referring to its controversial government in Kabul in the 1990s.
No puppet government or organization has delivered success and progress to Afghanistan and its people in the way that the Islamic Emirate has and continues to do so, it said.
The hardline group routinely refers to the democratically elected governments in Afghanistan as "puppets" of outside powers. That's one reason why the group has refused to hold formal peace talks with Afghan government representatives.
Under the draft peace deal between Washington and the group, the Taliban will be bound not to allow al-Qaida and other transnational militant groups to orchestrate international terrorism out of Afghanistan. But U.S. representatives say that does not mean the U.S. is considering abandoning support for the Afghan government and its security forces.
Read the rest at the link if you are interested.. it goes on at length.
The guy who has really put this all together, to explain why conventional Nation State Militaries have routinely been losing to insurgents in the last 50 years, in William Lind. A good short read that explains his theory of 4th Generation Warfare is this short primer:

Thanks for recommending this book. My generation was educated without any fancy technology, so the emphasis was always on reading, which is why I’m still addicted to doing it. My order will be placed today.
PS: My son was born on August 4th, Coast Guard Day. With many, many prayers from fellow Freepers in those early days, as we almost lost him. I will not dishonor my oath, nor will I ever shame him.

Your remarks are a blessing to me, and I pray that you’re right and I’m wrong. By the way, 8/4 is my birthday also!
Death to tyrants.
It wont matter what 97% of folks do.
Its the 3% that will matter.
... Amen Brother.
Thus be it ever.
I guess I was trying to offer a word of encouragement to patriots in Virginia to trust in the Lord, stand firm and persevere.

Misunderstood. I guess I lost sight of the context of your comment. My bad!

Thanks. Will do.
Hour # 107: the globalists dont respect us or the law, and make no mistake, they want us dead.
Tx, Fortes - it is our blessing to be Americans.
OK, Bommer. /womp, womp>
I was told earlier tonight that 60% of Virginians stayed home in November. I remember reading that there was no Republican candidate in about 25 seats.
Maybe if the people of Virginia participated in the process a bit more, they wouldn’t be in the mess they seem to be, if the above is true.
Personally, while I think the Dem’s are all about their gun control fantasies, this whole thing was a barometer to see what/if the opposition would be. If the folks laid down, they’d follow through. If the folks rose up, they’d probably back off, at least a little. But don’t be surprised when they start dropping magazine restrictions, etc.
Going forward, watch for an orchestrated effort by the Dem’s in Virginia and outside money to start picking off the Sheriffs that are standing with the people. And, as the Dem’s have openly admitted, massive immigration and settlement around the state to start changing the voting demographics as they did in NoVa.
And to think, the state hasn’t even seated the 3 radical DAs in the NoVa counties. Ones that are so bad, that the soft-on-crime DAs, they beat out, are warning folks about what is coming.
You get what you vote for.
Then it'll just go lo-tech:
Absolutely. homing on signals is a game with hams. I'm sure the military, probably even the National Guard, though perhaps not police and other troopers have the toys to make it easy. That is why I emphasized brief, preplanned coded transmissions. If you make use of FM transmitters, you'd have access to an amazing amount of receivers. The cheap walkie talkies with their limited range would be useful in circumstances. You have to plan things to limit your emissions. If you continue to transmit, any fool can locate you over time using very simple techniques. It's going to take some sophisticated hardware to locate a single transmission consisting of nothing but a single "BFR entering Grid 4, code Foxtrot," to inform a sniper that a Black Faced Rat has entered his AO and should be in range soon.
You also have to consider that some of us have very little left that holds us to this world, and might be willing to make some rather extreme sacrifices to make a point.
for later.

ComSec in everything. You know they are trying to listen.
At what point in the theoretical conflict
do the power lines come down, and
the natural gas lines get shut off, and
the rail lines get blocked, and
the highways get shut down, and
the urbanites have no fuel, no water, no food, etc.
-
THAT is when it gets real ugly.
