The ship where the family of 8 spent $32k for an Asia cruise, which they wisely cancelled (but no refund, not even with their ‘peace of mind’ insurance that they bought) is supposed to dock in Vietnam in roughly 5 days (if I remember right from the article).
I wonder if the holiday-makers* will be welcome there...or whether they’ll even be allowed to get off...or whether the ship is allowed to even enter their harbors.

Cruise ships are the perfect laboratory for leftists to prove their theories of governance before they try to impose them on entire countries, except everyone knows 100% of the experiments would end badly.
Wait until the first drug addict gets the Wuhan virus. They will escape their quarantine and head to the nearest city center homeless camp to score drugs, then all hell breaks loose.

I think the entire industry is FINISHED, at least in Asia. Between this, now, SARS popping up once in a while, and other cruises still running (and not offering refunds to those who wisely cancel) and also about to find themselves lacking any ports that want them...and so becoming huge news stories, it will years before anymore cruises run in that part of the world.
Just this one boat has got to be HUGE STRAIN on Japan’s medical system, with 61 confirmed, and therefore isolated.

Since the passengers are confined to their cabins it would appear that the virus is spreading via the room service they are forced to use
Thinking this is the ship where the disease may have started in the kitchen. Those numbers will jump more in the coming days.

Sorry if this is getting overwhelming, but it’s been a quiet few days and it seems that the virus is not stopping.

If this were a bioweapon it is a piss poor one.
The claims that it has killed 90,000 in Wuhan are simply silly. If the death rate were that high then 3 or 4 of the 12 people who’ve contracted the virus in the would have died. Japan has (I think) 300 cases, 1 has died.
I believe the PRC is not fully reporting deaths and infection rates but that you only need to add 1 zero to the totals, not 2 or 3. That would put the numbers in Wuhan to about 300-350K and the deaths to around 6500.
I left the words, “United States” out of a sentense....
It should have read:

2019-nCoV is something to be aware of and vigilant about. But there are a few on FR that are using the virus as means to spread FUD.
You’re probably right with your numbers...so at this point it’s running about 30% of US flu rates/deaths. Not taking it lightly...(have cavicide, masks, gloves, 30 days of food, etc), but far too early to push the panic button.
PS...I’ve got the cleanest hands in town, almost o/c about it.
