1100 Justice Department employees have self-identified themselves for scrutiny at a minimum, removal at best.

Trump is the Last President (if Barr continues to sit on his ass).

“...the law is not a neutral set of rules equally applicable to all but a weapon used by politicized bureaucrats to neutralize opponents.”

That’s how low our fedgov has sunk.

100% agreed, Kurt. The legal systems at all levels, not just the federal government but state, county, and city are also being destroyed by leftists who use there authority to “control” their enemies. Not the rest of us. Only their personal enemies. This is why antifa gets a pass for having rioted at the President’s inauguration while you or I will be in jail for at least a year if we possess a 30 round magazine for the rifle we legally bought (reference the new proposed law in Virginia).

https://freebeacon.com/issues/virginia-house-dems-pass-assault-weapons-ban-magazine-confiscation/

Leftists (i.e. democrats) use the legal system as a method to control their enemies.

Need to not rebuild it and do the same with the FBI, IRS, ATF.

Just for starters.

I am prepared to believe that he is an institutionalist whose first priority is to restore the reputation of the Department of Justice

That ship sailed long ago. The FBI crime lab scandal uncovered misconduct dating back to the late 1980's. Then there's Ruby Ridge and Waco. Nothing was ever done to rein in and clean up the FBI in those cases. They have only gotten more corrupt in the decades since, to the point where they now brazenly attempt a coup against a duly elected president. So far, two attorneys general and a slew of IGs have done zip about it. So I have zero faith in Barr or the entire corrupt system.

“McCabe lied 4 times says IG, and they let him off.”

A recent article in the American Thinker pointed out that due to the demographics in DC, these crooks are not charged because of the high probability a demonkrap jury would nullify. Unfortunately, the major media is part of the DNC, else honest reporting would greatly influence public knowledge and pressure for accountability. A totally unified GOP, talking day in and day out about the injustice done to candidate and President Trump (and if it can happen to him, it can happen to anyone) would be a significant second way to bring the issue to the courtroom for some of the criminals.

The author here is right - cooperating with these federal agencies puts one at legal risk - refuse talking to them, even being asked for directions to a coffee house, at all costs. The corrupt political class has greatly damaged our public institutions, and no one is being held accountable. As long as they remain in charge, that’s the way it will have to be.

Americans are far too complacent and naive. To think that Gestapo/Stasi/KGB etc like activities can’t happen here is beyond infantile. Hell, we’ve been witnessing here in real time! Cooperate with these criminals with badges and guns at your own peril. By the way, where is Lon Horiuchi today?

Those 1100 are retired. Living the good life on your dime.

DOJ has over 100,000 emplyees. At least 80,000 of them are DEM partisans who will do all they believe they can get away with to "fundamentally transform" the US.

Government is basically dishonest. This is why the founders gave us a government of limited powers. This government of limited powers has decreed that those limits are bunk.

” I am prepared to believe that he is an institutionalist whose first priority is to restore the reputation of the Department of Justice because he believes that is the way to restore the rule of law to America.”

I am unconvinced right now that this “is” his first priority, but rather that it “should be” his first priority. Without indicting the criminals in its own ranks, which might include encouraging real whistle blowers to step forward, there cannot be a restoration of these corrupted institutions.

Seems to me that this the way that communism takes over a country. They infiltrate the government, take over the law enforcement and judicial branches. Then, if you are with them and get caught you are a good comrade but if you are against them, it’s off with your head.

There are powerful people in our current political system that could care less if communism takes over as long as they are safe.

A lot of the Political appointees of Obama at the Justice department were converted to Civil Service Employees before Obama left Office. There is an old saying about Federal Civil Service Employees ....”You Can’t Fire Them and You Can’t Make them Work”. I suspect that Barr would love to get rid of a whole bunch of them, but his hands are tied. Perhaps, if we get a Republican House, Senate and President in 2021, we might be able to get Civil Service reform, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

I agree with your observation:

"Without indicting the criminals in its own ranks, which might include encouraging real whistle blowers to step forward, there cannot be a restoration of these corrupted institutions."

That's why I anticipated your remarks with:

If that requires overlooking criminality, he might do that (some would say he already has) but if it requires pursuing the truth right into the courtroom, he would then do that.. Events will tell us.
