"So I have zero faith in Barr or the entire corrupt system."
That is why I conditioned my observations so:
If that requires overlooking criminality, he might do that (some would say he already has)
It is better to have NO bureaucracy at all than a corrupt one.
Whatever Barr's motivation, if he fails to return a series of indictments he will go down in history as the Atty. Gen. who lost America the rule of law. Journalism will exempt him, history will not.
Bingo! Since we are talking pie-in-the-sky stuff, Congress needs to be reset as well. There is no way a fresh apolitical person elected to Congress can begin to clean it up. Congress is so corrupt that within a year, this person is bullied/coerced/bribed (by money, favors, power) by the in-place corruptors. Thus, the corruptors need to be removed first. Intense term limits, no vesting, use the same medical as you and I are subjected to, no PACs or appointments thereafter for a period of ten years, severe penalties for disclosing (at anytime, while and after serving) what was learned while in office (perhaps strict liability crimes), etc. So simply remove all current Congressional politicians, and let’s elect a whole new set of non-political candidates under the constraints set by the Constitution. Also, repeal some of the amendments. Let’s turn govey “service” into actual service, where no one enters a “pauper” and leaves a multi-millionaire! Enact a mandatory draft for BOTH genders (not 6 or 7 of these bastardized identities), veterans go to the head-of-the-line for jobs, and on and on.
Other than the one where I opined that indicting the top 100 non-violent seditionists won't cure the problem. The rot is deep and pervasive. Government workers have attitude, and the power to enforce it.
Maybe it's better if Barr lets all of 'em off. The people aren't demonstrating that they are very pissed at this point.

We seemed to be aligned here. Not knowing more specifically how far you would go with “overlooking criminality”, for me it may be defined as a strategy of selectively overlooking some actors’ criminality to get at others, and should be done if those given a pass are key witnesses subject to a plea bargain,... to get to the bigger fish. Otherwise, a selective overlooking of criminality without such consequence does not correct the problem. The so called guardians of our freedoms who commit crimes must be held to a higher standard, including punishment meted out, as an example to those in the ranks to follow the law or suffer the consequences.
Right now there is no news that Barr is attempting to do this, including with letting McCabe go.
Tear down and reform, just like the Army after Vietnam.
The DOJ, as with many bureaucracies, is staffed with career employees (lawyers in this case) who are democrats. As POTUS has pushed to build up a conservative judicial, Obama and Clinton pushed to staff the government with their people. It is tough for any Republican department head as they constantly subvert the leadership. And unless it is heinous crime the government union contract won’t allow firing them. It is bad and is throughout the government.
My point of view is that “the law” is long lost. All the Trump campaign and presidency have done is shine light on the status quo.
I don’t have any faith in the authors of history either. They will blow with the wind.
I agree with your observation with only the quibble that shining the light on the dirty state of affairs is something at least.
I dont have any faith in the authors of history either. They will blow with the wind.
While there's a certain amount of truth in the adage that the victors write the history but I am thinking that if we desend into a state of rank lawlessness, history will see these events as a crossing of a Rubicon.
Two great posts in one thread. Kudos to both of you.
First I heard about this. I thought all they did was withdraw their sentencing recommendation and leave it to the sound discretion of a thoroughly corrupt judge to as she sees fit.
I don’t recall that happening. If that did happen how did we end up with the same DoJ attorneys from before Trump?
No argument here.
It didn't happen. The quote you cited is Schlicter imagining a justice system where none exists.
I am so tired of hearing about “the 99% of FBI that are good, hard working people”. Horse hockey! Not a “whistleblower” in the bunch. “Oh, but their jobs were on the line” is the common excuse. So they’re amoral, which is worse than immoral. They know it’s wrong; they just don’t care.
EVERY question should be answered “Lawyer”. Don’t bother invoking your Fifth Amendment rights, they don’t care. Oh, and IF you finally get a lawyer, demand a tape recording before answering any questions.
Hi.
I can’t find the “Shut the Fu@k Up” video to link.
Great wisdom in that video.
