He tried to backpedal at the end of the show by saying that we can't compare US numbers to worldwide numbers. But even adding in worldwide numbers the rest of the world would have to be dying in absurdly large numbers of the flu in order to bypass the 2 or 3 percent (supposedly) of the coronavirus.

What is happening in China and what will happen here is two different things. The real plus and safety net for us is our sanitation system. Without that I do think we could be seeing really bad numbers.

I do think that places like LA and San Francisco could see a breakout and only because of the Homeless situation and the sanitation problems.

I for one am concerned enough to wonder how this might impact the election if this slows the economy down. Even though Trump would not be able to do much, it might play into a lot of idiots in a panic that think Sanders has the answer when he doesn’t.

Almost all the cases in the US and elsewhere have been ethnic Chinese and to a lesser extent Korean or Japanese.
It’s the last thing I worry about.
I get the flu every year and it’s never bothered me much.

I think Trump is betting that this is scenario with this corona virus. That it will be just a little worse than a bad flu season ultimately and isn't going to impose any draconian measures in order to stave off panic and not crash the US economy. I think he'll be successful.

This disturbing pattern is likely the same as the ones that occurred back when Ebola was rampaging several years ago.

Many, not unlike many of these coronavirus threads (more or less), were breathlessly announcing the end of civilization as we know it.

I should have known better than attempt to reason with some people about Ebola. A day or two after my comment I get a not so subtle email telling me to go eff myself.

The CDC has been lying to us to prevent concern and potential panic. The cats about to leave the bag. CDC just briefed this afternoon that we should prepare for a major outbreak in the US.
