Agreed. In fact, I would like to see short sale profits taxed at twice the rate to discourage it.
Shorting has it's place, but it's overused to the detriment of companies, the stock market and to some degree the economy in general.
With many companies giving very little sick time, some people can’t afford to take off so they go to work sick.
Some employers don’t give any paid time off at all especially for part-timers.
They interviewed one of the people from the Diamond Princess that got the virus and was quarantined while he was sick. He said it was not as bad as regular flu and more like a cold. He’s almost virus free now and has no ill effects. This will be the experience of 80% of the population.
Unless you have existing respiratory disease or other conditions that reduce your normal ability to take in oxygen into your lungs this virus is not a threat like SARS or MERS were.

Well - I am really looking at going into some puts on SPXS for the 17 Jul contracts but timing is going to be everything. They are cheap now but I certainly don't think the bleeding is over and I think I can get them for a lot cheaper.

Yeah, I have my ETF list almost completely picked out. I’m debating on my “go” list of stocks though. Trying to decide which sectors to attack with investments.
It’s a very wide range of severity. Some people develop no symptoms at all. Others become very sick and end up in the hospital. And then there is everything in between.
But the bigger issue is this coronavirus strain is EXTREMELY contagious. If this gets into a nursing facility or a school or a workplace, it’s going to spread like wildfire. And there are people who will become infected who have other underlying health problems. And it’s a very dangerous situation to them.
Don’t you think we’re over reacting? It’s not like the flu hasn’t been around since the beginning of time.
