“Several days ago, I heard that masks were NOT effective.”
Most doctors who’ve been interviewed say the same thing. Masks are effective if you ARE sick, so you don’t spread it. If you’re not sick, they don’t help at all and may even make things worse. (According to what I’ve heard/read.)
“the virus hangs on pkgs, etc?...why arent delivery/mail people falling like flies?”
There you go — being rational. “They” are not expecting the sheeple to think and ask logical questions. “You VILL obey our heavy handed dictates. You VILL accept martial law. You VILL like it. Shut up and don’t ask questions.”
“If it’s one of the two they’re most hopeful about we’ll know in the blink of an eye if they’re effective or not.”
I don’t believe for a minute that we’ll know if the drugs work, I believe it will be hidden. They have a vested interest in prolonging the panic. Many of the crepe hangers furthering the hysteria are slated to get million-dollar chunks of money from Uncle Sam to create a vaccine.
If drugs work to cure the virus, then the rush for a vaccine isn’t as critical as it was thought a month ago. Do it in a normal timeline.
I am pretty much the same way, with my shopping mostly a matter of trying to avoid crowds and suit my own preferences.
At least you HAD a 401K, I guess. Many do not & may not have much of a choice but to retire. I’m thankful I retired some years ago rather having to look forward to it right now.
“my 401 k has been devastated”
OK. Now, I’m depressed. I get it.
I remember seeing the PP trucks but never tried them. We used Fresh Direct for a while, it was ok, but except for fresh fish, not really worth it for me.
I jus went to Peapod’s website: “climate controlled delivery and white glove service”.
So this is somewhat hi end?
A tad off topic.
The small town near me has volunteers offering curbside meals from the closed down Senior Center. A good variable for those who don’t have Meals on Wheels.
Good intentioned but I'd worry that one of the volunteers is asymptomatic.
I dont remember white glove treatment, but the produce was usually good. High quality meat and frozen stuff was frozen. Way more consistent than instacart
Some of this information may be false. The droplets do not stay in the air for hours, for example. Being in a grocery store is not as close quarters as spending 10 days or so on a cruise ship, and even people living in the same household don’t catch the virus that often. Will you get it if you shop during senior hours at the store? Nobody can tell you that one way or the other.
Does PeaPod keep their own warehouses, or do you pick what local store(s) they are shopping from for you?
(as you know, the latter is what Instacart does)
Own warehouses. The delivery guy never goes into a store or warehouse. You place the order and it has time you can edit your order. It was 8:00 Pm the night before. YMMV. they have people place the orders in bags and in a box. The next day they put the box in a big truck and deliver to your front door. They would even just leave the crates or put it in your kitchen. Your choice. Im guessing they dont come in any more. 10x better instacart.
Thanks for explaining PeaPod. Thats the model FreshDirect was using when we used them years ago.
As I said I have had issues with Instacart but with them I do get to shop around for price/availability from multiple local stores (albeit on IC’s terrible website).
Stay healthy!
