I don’t think so, as the Constitution directs lands not to exceed 10 square miles, and as already mentioned, the VA par was returned from federal control back to VA in 1846. No amendment contains that act....

Article One of The Constitution governs the existence of the District of Columbia. It gives the Nations Capitol the Independence the Founders wanted among the States. The Dems only want the liberal Electoral College votes they need to get a Dem President.

The bill would establish a federal district of two square miles, comprising the Capitol and White House, the National Mall and other major federal buildings. The rest of the District would become a state called Washington, Douglass Commonwealth, named for the Black abolitionist and intellectual Frederick Douglass.

The bill would establish a federal district of two square miles, comprising the Capitol and White House, the National Mall and other major federal buildings. The rest of the District would be returned to Maryland using Virginia as a model. Virginia took back the portion of the original District of Columbia.

DC was originally 10x10 miles or 100 sq miles. In 1846 Virginia took back 31 sq miles (Arlingon County).

Maryland should do the same with its 67 sq miles.. There was zero intention to create another state from Maryland.

Maybe Arlington County should become yet another State!

.

Time to throw a net over the Dems & RINOs in the US House and drag them off to the ash heap of history.

In many of those cases the remaining state would be Republican, so instead of two Democrat senators you would have two Dems and two Republicans, for a net pick up of two for the good guys.

Democrats are racist. Why not just rename the new state Douglass?

They just have horrible hygiene and fitness and wear grungy clothes so they simply look like they are homeless.

Thanks. Feel sorry for you. Keep showering and washing your clothes after associating with them. As Thomas Jefferson called them "The Great Unwashed."

DC is FULL of Politicians and all of their appointees and staff.

Being the most corrupt people on the face of the earth - and oh yeah - it’s all of OUR money they spend, the shops and restaurants there are all High- end $$$ wise. So a LOT of our money is there for all to play with.

The arguments for this have been OBE. The poor black neighborhoods gentrified and are full of rich and upper-middle class self-hating white libs now. All the blacks who “suffered” from “no representation” all these years have been pushed out to PG County, MD. What’s the point of it now? It will only benefit Norton and other light-skinned DC blacks who’ve already been enjoying their notoriety and faux leadership.
