I am not sure of the State’s culpability in the Portland mess, but can’t states be held accountable? Oregon should be forced to step in and enforce the rule of law in their cities. If not, they should be punished federally...forced to pay for the destruction...and fined

The left has taken a great gamble: they've gambled that if they create enough mayhem and chaos the people will reward them by putting them in office at all levels. That presumes that (1) people don't blame the mayhem on them and (2) if they do, they think giving them power will make it go away.

God help us if they win their bet.

Has anyone else noticed how the left likes to play games with words? “Negotiate a cease-fire”? This isn’t a war. The feds are enforcing federal law... if there weren’t laws broken, there’s nothing for them to do.

I’m not sure what there is to negotiate. If Portland or the State did their job and arrested/prosecuted people who damaged federal property and harassed federal employees, DHS and other agencies wouldn’t be there. The local law enforcement didn’t do their job (because they were ordered not to) and the feds stepped in. Portland doesn’t need to ask uncle Sam to stop... it needs to compel the rioters and protesters to stop their actions against the feds. Maybe the Mayor should speak to the rioters. At least that is actionable for him.
