I guarantee you Pastor John MacArthur will be holding services!
Although our church is still holding Sunday services, they have cancelled pretty much everything else. Today the Pastor announced there will be no Christmas Eve services but I thing he is going to livecast something. Yet I can’t get too ticked off because I know he and the elders are sincerely concerned for the safety of the congregation. They are good, godly people. There have been several people from the congregation who have come down with severe cases in the last 3 weeks.
They can still hold services and let the one who have health issues can watch from home.
A lot of churches are set up for the internet now. People who are not able to attend can now watch services from their bed now.
Agree. Elderly people are vulnerable in many ways, but it makes no sense to cancel Masses/services for EVERYONE.
“makes no sense to cancel Masses/services for EVERYONE.”
Thumbs up...
BUMP
Episcopal Diocese of Central Pennsylvania announced discontinuing in-person worship until January...meaning NO Advent and NO Christmas.
There is no command in the bible to have a birthday party for Jesus on a phony date of December 25th.
I’m just a Jew so what do I know but it seems to me that the church has always been working with governments or against governments.
I haven’t heard of any churches cancelling Christmas services. Most are taking precautions - masks, distance, sanitizing, etc. Ours will have a children’s Christmas pageant early, and 11PM worship.
they will never recover
The ancients put together the calendar with much care and prayer. It has become the tradition of the Western church and I like tradition!
It's time for these banana republic, liberal governors (read: dictators) to be put in their place. So far every state imposed Covid related ban on public gatherings "to protect" their citizenry does just the opposite. The long term ramifications of these state issued regulations is beyond comprehension.
They willingly handed over their lampstand...modern day Donatists.
No one knows the exact date when the lord was born. I do believe he was born and died for us.
I’m not picking on Episcopalians here - Lord knows, we Catholics have the same Covid-related problems - but this is a dumb move, given the recent report that the ECUSA is in a death spiral. If you deprive families and active single members of the chance to worship at CHRISTMAS...expect less loyalty in the New Year.
Good, but where is even a mention of a birthday party on Dec 25 or any time.

Lightman - I was baptised at the old age of 3 months, in 1946. I was a faithful Episcopalian for many years. The slow death of my church in the last of the 1900’s made me wonder how long it would be until I couldn’t stand any more. 2003 was the end. I often wonder if I did the right thing but I really believe God meant for me to do it. I pray I did the right thing.
Have you joined another denomination? I hope you haven’t given up on going to church anywhere.
