And more U.S. taxpayer dollars will go the Gaza to rebuild.
One would think that Gazans would be tired of Hamas using Gaza as a battlefield, wouldn’t one? Last February I spoke to a nice couple in Gaza and they were not thrilled with Hamas drawing attacks on their homes. In fact, they criticized Hamas about as strongly as they dared without getting shot, but then I don’t really know that they weren’t. Not everyone in Gaza supports Hamas or the Islamic Jihad, but between Hamas and the Israelis, they’re not really encouraged to speak up. There’s actually a movement involving Palestinians to retake what they consider to be their homeland without violence, but neither side wants to acknowledge them. They are not aligned with either side’s agenda.
Ah, yes. Those.
But then, you see, ... oh, it’s not as if the international community ISN’T roiled already; this is Israel we’re talking about, after all; but nukes...?
My that WOULD turn up the heat now, wouldn’t it.
I have a little theory I keep on a shelf in the back of my mind: that, if there’s to be an Armageddon, it will feature Israel as the central character, simultaneously the lone defender, and the alleged chief villain, as has so tiringly
many times been the case.
What’s to say of them? I think they could bloody well be perfect in every respect and STILL not catch a break.
Alas, however effective, nukes simply wouldn’t do.
Surely we’d have Armageddon tomorrow.
If Cuba was lobbing rockets into Miami WE would respond... and I doubt we would give a few hours notice so people could evacuate buildings.
A few moments of reflection on the law of unintended consequences might be appropriate for the Gaza citizens.
