Looks like a new generation of Fake MAGA candidates is emerging. I don’t trust this climber one bit.

I trusted John Thune for 12 years starting in 2004. I’d say this guy is good for 12. I don’t think he’d blow it in 1 term. Remember Thune was up against tiny Tom Daschle in ‘04. Abbott has served 2 terms. Time for West wouldn’t you say? Texas is safe enough. The key word is replenish.

Keep Collins(Maine). She’s the best we can do.

I get it.

Trump is a fast talking salesman. That is his thing, and he does it very well.

For many, and most where Vance grew up, salesmen are the ones who convince you to buy the car on 28% interest. For those who have a chance to thing about it, a very negative thing.

So this guy is like many here of FR, just a Trump hater....

Too little to late.

Find another career, this whole politics thing isn’t your bag.

You say wrong and or dumb stuff and expect, and even ask for a free pass?

Nope.

I would! He had more information about Trump than WE did! Yet he was too stupid to see it! We do not need RINO losers like this in government!

HAH! What better choices did we have?

"I can respect someone who can admit they were wrong."

Is he saying this because he wants to be elected? The evidence of President Trump's worthiness, and effectiveness in the office was apparent the first week of his administration. I'd be wary of any anti-Trumper's so-called sudden epiphany on Trump, when they're in the process of running for public office. I wouldn't trust the guy. Assholes like him talk out of both sides of their mouths.

"At least Paul openly admits the election was stolen."

Too bad he didn't admit it on January 6th.

>> I trusted John Thune for 12 years starting in 2004 <<

I turned against him after only a year, after pretty boy Thune defeated Daschle on a campaign pledge to "end obstruction", then promptly flip-flopped and demanded government funding for his pork project in South Dakota or he would OBSTRUCT EVERYTHING Bush did as "payback".

I particularly loathe politicians who flip-flop on the very issue that got them into office in the FIRST place (Jason Chaffetz on "pathway to citizenship" for illegals, Melissa Bean on "paying attention to your constituents", Thune on "ending obstruction", etc.)

"I can respect Rand Paul."

I can't, and won't respect anyone who voted to certify a potato, and unlimited voter fraud on January 6th.

Funny, I nailed Trump’s SCOTUS nominees would be crap, while the AlwaysTrumpers were gloating they would be Scalia 2.0 and mocking those of us who doubted that narrative.

“JD Vance says he regrets past criticism of Trump”

of course he does ... they all SAY they regret, but the fact remains, at a minimum, it shows extremely bad judgement, and more often than not is just the typical craven backtracking by committed RINOs who’ll SAY anything to get elected, and therefore should NEVER be trusted ...

"I welcome anyone who recants and joins the Trump train."

If they only join the Trump train because that's what they need to do to get elected, they can drop dead. Accepting a-holes like this, voting for them, and continuing to vote for them, is why the Republican Party will never be reformed.

Many of us voted for Bush and McCain and Romney before we learned the truth of who they were.

Bush was popular on FR, McCain and Romney. But if you didn't already know what Romney was in 2012, you were either in denial or pretty dumb.

Again, it’s not as if Bush’s alternatives in the GOP were much better.

one of the worst movies i’ve ever seen: the insane back and forth editing made me as dizzy as watching a mexican jumping bean on a hot griddle, but then again, that seems to be the style for generations that have attention spans no longer than a sand gnat ...

"Mark levin came upon his turn around honestly."

And Mark Levin wasn't running for public office when he came around. He was a private citizen when he made his original comments. These never-Trumpers running for office or re-election are giving lip-service in order to gain a seat, or keep a seat. Sure, people can change their minds, but you have to ask yourself, what do they want in return for saying nice things about President Trump? I can't believe they're doing it out of the goodness of their heart. They have everything to gain by switching their opinions, because they see the writing on the wall.

Granted, I haven't read the "best selling novel" by J.D. Vance that the movie was based on, but the movie itself was a trainwreck. Gotta be Ron Howard's worst film.

I strongly recommend viewing it for the camp value!

Ah, but plenty of people who WERE running for office promptly flip-flopped on Trump (being vehemently against him until the bitter end in 2016, then immediately switching to being a staunch MAGA ally when THEY were running for office), and all was forgiven by Trump's base. Notable examples include John Cox in California and Steve Lonegan in NJ.

Why do they get a pass while J.D. Vance doesn't?

A much more credible argument is Vance being on the Egg McMuffin backwagon AFTER the primary. Only a small percentage of 2016 NeverTrumpers drank THAT kool-aid.

"and all was forgiven by Trump's base."

Not by me. And after January 6th, after 40+ years of being a registered Republican, I changed my party affiliation to "no party," and won't ever vote again, in any election, until voter fraud is dealt with once and for all. I live in New York State, so it's not as if my vote counts anyway.
