Lawyers in their endless search for “The Big One” will blame everybody except the shooter.

I am not convinced that there WERE bullies.

Yeah, I personally doubt if the "bullies" existed anywhere except in his own mind.

It seems to be the latest boogieman to blame but what they are now calling bullying is often just not falling down and worshiping before the wonderfulness of the pervert.

Not checking his backpack after viewing that drawing is inexcusable.

I don't care what the kids story was!

“...but they may be civilly liable..............”

Probably the hardest part is going to be to try to find the end of the list of people that will be named in the suit. The only one that won’t be are the teachers that placed a warning to administration. But none of them had the knowledge really needed to determine a factual identification other than what they heard.

Probably the main people that should be in the hot water were the heads for the IEP that determined the kid needed counselling but did not decide to suspend the kid’s school ground privileges prior to that counselling. Lit fuse.

Yeah like in Florida where the police chief got his job and pension back when the story was removed from the media, like wise with the Obama school administrator following Obama social justice policies

The school officials have as much or more culpability than the parents. They knew what was going on, more so than the parents.

https://www.breitbart.com/news/expert-school-should-have-flagged-behavior-before-shooting/

If I’m not mistaken, there was an article on Breitbart, day or so after the shooting, that spoke to the school being unaware of any bullying, but students saying he was. If he was bullied and the school was aware then there are protocols that have to be taken to address it. If they ignore the bullying accusations....We Don’t Know Nothin’....then no steps to be taken. A simple...We were unaware of any incidents....to deflect any responsibility.

Principal, or whoever, never notified the School Resource Officer, for one.

Prosecutor brought up that the parents didn’t check the backpack. For starters, did the Principal ask them to check the backpack? I don’t remember hearing that, but maybe it was asked. However, the Principal doesn’t need permission to search the backpack.

Unlike law enforcement, school officials DO NOT need a warrant to search anything on school property. School officials will routinely ask police K9s to sweep the school. If a drug dog alerts to a locker, the principal gets the maintenance guy to open the locker and the principal conducts the search. Hands over any evidence recovered to the SRO. My nephew told me that the K9 was in his school on a regular basis.

The Principal could have searched that kids bag whenever they wanted.

The Principal could have given the parents the option of removing the kid right after the meeting, voluntarily, or suspending him on the spot.

Prosecutor is trying to protect the school and the county government from criminal prosecution and civil liability. Nothing more.

The only reason she’s coming out with this, now, is because there are a lot of folks that are much smarter and level headed than she is and they pointed to these facts right after she had her grandstanding press conference. And toss in the later statements from the Sheriff that no one in his agency was notified and what steps he could have taken. She did a lousy job making her bed and this has the potential to seriously boomerang right back at her and her office.

“I am not convinced that there WERE bullies. That is gossip at this point.”

We shall see, but it’s the only thing that makes any sense.

“No, they were not the bullies. The murderer just shot random kids as he walked down the hall. They were not specific targets.”

Thanks for letting me know. It makes no sense to be shooting people randomly.

““Maybe that prosecutor should charge those who bullied the kid, too.”

“I assumed they were the ones shot.”

****

My kids went to that school, one just graduated last year. My understanding is that there was no bullying involved (if anyone was, it was Ethan the shooter and pictures he would show). Additionally he wasn’t involved in an incident where there was a deer head found on school grounds a few weeks prior (that kid was dealt with by the school system).

I’m starting to wonder if there’s something in the water around here (only partial sarcasm).

Well at least there will be no bail if they are charged.

I think the prosecutor is seeing that if they can’t prove the parents didn’t have the gun locked up, as they claim they did, then the case against them goes poof.

My best friend’s youngest boy was frequently bullied, but he was also a socially inept arsehole that constantly made inappropriate attention seeking remarks often quite rude or crude that eventually provoked others into lashing out at him either verbally or physically. It was a rough few years for everyone.

Made his parents semi-crazy because it was such a vicious cycle where his social stupidity made him the target of actual bullies because he had made himself so unpopular, but at the same time he kept digging holes for himself.

I’m one who believes there should be good cause to take away another person’s freedom.

I would be very uncomfortable charging school officials.

If that would be the case, it might be a gamechanger. I was always amazed that the principal at Columbine got away saying that he didn't know the two shooters but they had bought an ad in the previous yearbook showing them in black raincoats. What principal wouldn't know kids who were that out-of-the-box?

The reality is that they must have known those kids and known they were trouble with a capital "T". They were counting the days until the killers graduated, and came up a month short of getting them out of there.

Administrators know more than they pretend to but don't want to get fired or sued.
