“What do you see?”
The white are candlestick holders and the black Chinese looking figures are just the spaces between the candlestick holders.

“They were given to me and will take a LOT of dirt. I may throw a big rock in them first to take up some space and anchor them as well.”
The rock is a good idea! I fill my big pots about 1/3 full of empty plastic bottles and cans. I’ve used the same ones for many years now, but refresh some of the soil each season.
The main thing with container planted anything (and hanging baskets) is to be vigilant about fertilizing. I add a LESSER amount of Miracle Grow, or whatever granular/water soluble you prefer, to my watering can daily. It makes a HUGE difference. Using the time-released Osmocote-type fertilizer added to the potting soil helps a lot, too. :)

Thanks for that tip about regular fertilizing. I have added the granular stuff that lasts all summer, but that’s when I purchase individual plants and make my own pots. I haven’t done that for a couple of years now, and completely forgot about fertilizing! Duh.

I did see that, Rusty. I’ve already started stocking up on a few things. Actually, they can put me under house arrest if they like - I don’t think I’d notice lol.
