The thing is the base you are talking about is definitely NOT illegal. It has the blessing of the Jordan Government, which is our ally in the region. That base was used by Trump in his war against ISIS. Trump never, ever, demanded this US base (Tower 22) to be dismantled.

Only Biden dismantle bases, just like he did in Afghanistan.
Trump always wanted to keep some bases in Afghanistan.

Tower 22 and the bases near it sit almost on a road that would, left “unattended”, be a major logistics route for Hezbollah. It is almost surely a factor in whether Hezbollah decides to harass Israel, or attack full throat. The latter choice can go 2 ways: Israel is battered badly by Hamas’ ~120k rockets and other arms, plus strong logistics, bringing the US in with massive intervention (but without those bases), or, without said intervention, Israel fires off some nukes.
