“Anyone have views on the validity of cf.org?”
The site is new to me so I don’t know. This article from the Jerusalem Post is reporting on the incident.

Houthis and the blowfish?
Apparently cut Yemen’s 3 branches leading to their respective undersea cable trunk lines.
These guys are begging to be obliterated
Satellites are slow, have high latency (delays), and are expensive. Fiber is what makes it possible to speak to Rajiv in Customer Support in India. I’ve recently had customer support people in Jamaica, Costa Rica, Philippines, Malaysia and India.
One more brick is removed from the delusional canard of “globalism.”
Sounds like the work of the same crew that blew up the pipeline between Russia and Germany.
Some JV team.
“Houthis : Why do they still EXIST???”
You can’t take out a terrorist group like this. They are not a rag tag group of people with tents in the desert.
Iran is widely accused of backing the Houthis, a Zaydi Shiite movement that has been fighting Yemen’s Sunni-majority government since 2004. The Houthis took over the Yemeni capital Sanaa in September 2014 and seized control over much of north Yemen by 2016. Yemeni officials and Sunni states have repeatedly alleged that Iran and its proxy Hezbollah have provided arms, training, and financial support to the Houthis. But Iranian and Hezbollah officials have denied or downplayed the claims. The United States, in coordination with Saudi Arabia, has presented physical evidence of Iranian arms transfers to the group.
Hezbollah, their main supplier of weapons, had over 40K missiles at the southern border ready to fire into Israel less than a couple of weeks ago alone. You can’t kill all of them without destroying a whole lot of a number of countries plus all of Iran and Yemen. There are other ways of forcing the issue. But Biden hasn’t tried them yet, if he is going to. Time will tell.

“I thought the Houthis were basically fighting with sticks and shovels. Who knew they had this capability?”
Yeah, I know what you mean. It’s almost as if, well, as if some other, far more sophisticated and capable power is involved... But I’m sure it was just an impassioned savage diving down to the bottom of the sea with a knife in his mouth...
Sixteen years ago, I was the senior field service engineer at the satellite station at Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti. At that time we were approaching the capacity of the satellite station and instead of increasing our capacity, the command decided to buy into a new cable that was being run across the Red Sea. This was “more economical” than installing new satellite equipment. Seems to me that they never considered whether or not that this was a secure way to communicate. So now it’s come back to bite them in the butt.
Every American corporation that outsource their IT and IT infrastructure? I always knew the day would come when war happened and undersea data cables would start getting cut.
NOOOO! You don't say.
You mean Jim Smith? How did that work out for you?
No, no, no. I got Tom Jones!
After exhausting my patience, I kept saying “Escalate” and then Fred answered.
Some of the experiences are pretty good and really helpful. Others are what you expect: “Yeah, our service is crappy, but you can’t have your money back. But if you don’t cancel today, we’ll give you three months free!”
Leave the cables cut. See if anyone notices.
