Anyway, the cables sometimes run in waters not all that deep, even if well offshore. Take a look at the maps of the cables’ routes posted online or on YouTube, and compare to topographical maps of the sea floor in the area. So, yes, dragging an anchor, etc., can work to break or damage a cable. You’d think SOME extra strength would be built into a cable, but it might not be a lot, as that would add weight and cost, difficulty of laying, etc.
All you need is something heavy on a long enough cable to drag along the bottom. These cables get broken all the time by fishing trawlers and poorly managed anchors.

That’s a bit dated, but should be required reading for all. The Houthis are basically a splinter group of Shia Islam.
However, the article does not go into great depth about the relationship with Iran. Iran has some (some) decent tech.
In the general sense, I think it’s fair to say Iran’s mullahs would burn through every Houthi alive if it advanced the mullahs’ agenda. The Houthis seem either unaware of that or don’t care. Maybe it’s the latter — recall the appalling human wave attacks of even children, from Iran, in the Iran-Iraq war? And consider that half the population is, as the article notes, on the brink of starvation. Pretty easy to manipulate by radical Muslims...

Transportation of weapons to the Houthis would go to near zero if the Euros and others affected would put together a real coalition in numbers of warships, even small ships like the Coast Guard cutter we have in the area, to blockade everything but food going into Yemen. One DOESN’T need Arleigh-Burke class ships to do that, though a few more are likely needed to provide missile defense for the blockade.
Oh, and take out any Iranian intel ships for good. Capture might be best where possible (sort of a tit for tat, but just as effective as sinking them. Hell, re-man them including a few opposition Iranians and add to blockade.)
Don’t forget, for example, the Iranian intel ship. The Houthis’ attacks lapsed noticeably while that ship was out of commission from the US (?) hack attack.
Also, don't forget, pretty much every mid-level and lower person in the Houthi fighting force is likely doing heavy Captagon. Like that spokesperson we see often...
Y’ know...
I would not put it past the Iranians to sabotage the cables and let the blame be pinned on the Houthis.
“False Flag” is a faint possibility too, but it doesn’t really add up.
That is one seriously hyperbolic headline.
They did not completely cut off Asia from Europe, nor the reverse, nor anything like it.
