I wouldn't have expected less.
“I bet that the ridership will not support it”
not even close ... almost all of the track passes through sparsely populated areas and even the northern terminus of the greater Sacramento area is only a little more than two million people ... and the promoters long ago gave up on the feasibility of actual high speed of the “bullet” train through the LA metro area southern train terminus ...
shuttle air flights between major cities will still always take less time and cost less than this two billion dollar “bullet” train ...
and of course, THE major problem of long distance rail of any kind, high or low speed, in the U.S. is how the hell do you get about once you leave the train station? ... jitneys perhaps?
I wouldn’t have expected less.“
If it was a movie it would be called to “on the nose”
It is already cheaper if the state had paid for airplane tickets. Now they want another $100 billion and more.
Given that it’s California, with all the phobias manifest in the State I’m actually surprised they’re calling it a “bullet” train.
