Joni was a folky, until she “discovers” moany wordy tripe jazz with repetitious releases. I moved on 50 years ago. There was so much better jazz than folky jazz wannabes drowning in syrupy maj7 chords and confused dulcimer inspired alternate turnings.

Neil young was never a quality guy when it came to recording he was more of an organics guy. So much so that I recall Wayne Robins writing in Newsday that Young’s music which he appreciated sounds muted or dull in the recording. Organics guys, a type overrepresented in the acoustic/folk end, plug a decent mic into a decent pre amp, maybe EQ out some grunge and call it a day. They expect the song to do the work which can happen as demonstrated by Phil Spectors “Wall of Sound” recordings the masters of which probably don’t rise to the quality of a Neil Young song on YouTube.Rush or Steely Dan? Yeah quality is part of the package. Neil Young not so much.

There are a couple of Mitchel’s songs that I enjoy, mostly from the time that when Jaco Pastorius and Pat Methany played with her, but not much else. Never like Neil Young.
Just for information, Amazon ($0.01175) and Apple ($0.01) are at the top of the list with respect to payout per stream, while Spotify is about 6 places down at $0.00937 per stream. Naw, the Benjamin’s had nuttin to do with her return (sarc).
