Preliminary autopsy and ballistics findings confirm that a Santa Clarita Valley gunman who held officers at bay Friday fired the shot that killed a deputy, Los Angeles County sheriff's officials said Monday.

The "likelihood" was that the fire was started by hot tear gas canisters fired by deputies through the window of the bedroom from which Beck was shooting, said Lt. Raymond Peavy of the Sheriff's Homicide Division. Investigators believe the fire started on a bed, Peavy said.

I didn't post the entire L.A. Times story. Follow the link. No 'Friendly Fire.' Beck is cop killer. No better than George Rivas. He would and should have received the needle if he had survived.

Anyone care to retract the bilge about friendly fire they've been posting?

I still want to know why the ATF was involved. And why they lied, and why they used poor tactics... etc.

The BATF was serving the search warrant for possible firearms violations on Beck. When did they lie?

Those are easy:

I still want to know why the ATF was involved.

Because the "investigation" supposedly involved felony level illegal firearms. That's what the F stands for.

And why they lied,

Cause it's the ATF, if they told the truth it would be embarrasing.

and why they used poor tactics

Again because it's the ATF. Remember these are mostly failed FBI agents desperately trying to prove the FBI was wrong, and freqeuntly proving the FBI was right.

It's too bad that the deputy's superiors were so careless with his life and that as a result he died.

If you truly believe someone is stockpiling guns you do not confront them in the place where they may be keeping them.

His superiors were negligent.

Don't stop production of your "Beck Rocks" t-shirts until you get approval from Lazamataz!

This can't be!

You mean patriot Beck is actually GUILTY of what he admitted during negotiations; that is, that he did, in fact, shoot the deputy?

He also said he didn't want to go to jail for the rest of his life (he knew he would go, and he was tired of being somebody's girlfriend.).

But I expect the Tin hat crowd will come in and say they fabricated this evidence and then bulldozed the scene for some "vast conspiracy" ala Hilliary Clinton.

May the fires that engulfed his house pale in comparison to the burning this jerk gets in the eternal flames of hell...

Cop killers suck.

Just for the sake of argument, let's say you have 2 scenarios:

1- Man shoots deputy in the face as he tries to enter man's house, deputy later dies.

2- Man shoots unknown civilian in the face as he tries to enter man's house, unknown civilian later dies.

Do you consider the one scenario to be a more serious crime than the other, deserving greater scorn and punishment?

I would ask you the same question, is it a more serious crime to shoot a cop than to shoot anyone else? Is a cop's life therefore worth more than yours or mine?

Cop killers suck

Do you also hold the reverse to be true that killer cops suck (Lon Hourouchi comes to mind)?

In Texas, it is. The perp automatically qualifies for the death penalty.

from another thread..."Two assault rifles, a shotgun, a semiautomatic pistol and other handguns...were recovered."

So since when does this constitute "amassing weapons"? There are a heck of a lot of unanswered questuions about this little raid; it would appear that the whole thing was bungled much in the same way that Waco was.

No doubt something went bad. Kuredjian was responding as backup to a 'shots fired' call.
