Experts cited in other FR posts tell us there are MANY terrorist cells here among us now. Who do we have to fear more---THEM or POLITICAL CORRECTNESS??
There are 1.5 billion Islams in the world. At least 10 to 15 percent of them would obey their leaders and join a jihad agst the USA.
When we strike Osama, no matter how much evidence we have on Osama, and no matter whether there are collateral casualties, it will just incite all the other Islamics or whatever they're called. The nations like Afghanistan will attempt to exact more terror.
And within our country, it is downright frightening to think of how many "sleepers" they have here. They have been planting them here for a number of years. This, according to mideast experts.
When it comes to states who support or harbor terrorists, the ONLY way we are going to stop them is to reign so much destruction on them that they have to stop---because they either choose to live or because they are dead. If we do this, other nations will condemn us and have a hissy, and here in the USA on campuses and in Hollywood we'll face opposition that will fill the cable channels every bit as much as the attack has since Sept 11.
As for terrorists among us, political correctness will allow them to destroy us. We are going to have to look at immigrants here, and look hard. Unfair? Yes. But the choice is this or death and the end of our nation. This will not be acceptable to the "we are the world" crowd, who are more concerned that someone will have their feelings hurt than that terrorists have the opportunity to kill more people.
I am afraid it's more serious than we think---NOT because we CAN'T overcome it, but because we do not have the WILL to overcome it because it would require us to do grossly politically incorrect things. That program last night profoundly gives insight into the state of mind of the latte states and the Gore voters.
We need to understand that the plan is a 100 year plan. Here in the states we have trouble planning beyond the weekend these radicals are planning at an enourmous level and we need to switch our thinking not for ourselves but future generations.
The longer their plan is executed the harder it will be to stop. A complete and total solution needs to exercised with EXTREME PREJUDICE against the United States of Islam. This concept can never become reality!
Our country needs to be completely united in this cause and should be the hallmark of every citizen each day!

I love Ann Coulter, but it's not realistic to think you can go in and convert all these folks to Christianity at the point of a gun.
A more likely technique is divide and conquer. The better-educated Muslims may want to consider themselves too enlightened to resort to violence. The minority Shiite Muslims don't get on very well with the Sunni Muslims. Muslims in Indonesia are said to practice a somewhat different religion from their brothers in the Mideast.
Apart from fighting a war on several fronts against the violent Muslims, we need to mount a huge propaganda effort to convince the others that the true version of Islam is peaceful, and doesn't go around murdering innocent people. I don't know if that's true or not (given that Mohammed himself wielded a sword). But for every Muslim cleric who proclaims the Jihad, we have to get some other cleric to preach the opposite way. Otherwise, we're all in big trouble, fighting against nearly a third of the inhabitants of earth.
Even if we win, it would be no fun wiping out hundreds of millions of people to do it.

I saw Matthews talking about profiling about a week ago, in a discussion with Forrest Sawyer. I thought Sawyer was going to faint. He was looking like, "Shouldn't we pull the plug on this and switch back to something else." Like someone was using foul language or hateful words.
I couldn't believe Matthews either. What a hypocrite. And Sawyer rightfully questioned him to the effect of, "Well Chris, how can we do this profiling you suggest against only one group, Arabs, and yet it won't apply to blacks, for example, when police are looking for a rapist or a murderer"
And Matthews had some twisted logic on why profiling could apply to TERRORISM and not to RAPE or MURDER!!! The inconsistency and hypocrisy was hilarious. Typical knee-jerk liberalism. And I emphasize the JERK.
Do not fear. If America has the good sense to do as you suggest -- and I hope to God we do -- such traitors can be arrested and hanged for aiding and abetting the enemy; i.e., for treason. An all out war against the enemy without will enable us to rid ourselves of the enemy within, for once and for all.

I, too, think that a decisive military strike against the locations of the terrorists encompassing most of the nations surrounding those locations is the minimum required. Only that will give even the minimum assurance we need that we can stop terrorism.
Massive military strikes (like, say, carpet bombing) would hopefully whack out many or most of the terrorists. MORE importantly, the terrorists and their friends and families and government would be UNABLE to be in the terrorist business for the rest of their lifetimes, because they would be too busy trying to build shelters and obtain food.
That neutralizes the offshore threats. THEN, we have to contend with the cells among us...

Apparently you are blind and deaf as well as a fearfull little shrew. The purpose of the program was to raise funds for the families of those who died in the attacks. It was also to pay tribute to the heroism shown by many of those who died and those who continued to work to save those in the rubble. The purpose was not to convince Americans that we need to kill terrorists and overthrow countries friedly to them. Virtually all agree that is necessary.
Were there a few who couldnt put aside their leftist tendencies, such as whoever it was (cant remember) who sang Lennon's "Imagine" or the stupid comments by De Niro, sure. But that was a small part of the show.

You say diversity, I say constitutional law. You miss the whole point but that usually happens with people who "think" emotionally. We are a country of laws and citizens have rights to equal protection under our laws.
Will we have to be more stringent about who we let in this country? Yes. I can even see revoking all visas for the duration and only those screened and approved at the highest levels of our govenment would be allowed to enter. I would also restrict movement of UN personnel and ambassadorial staffs and if they strayed beyond those borders they would be expelled from the country. Unfortunately, I think we will need to do much more suveillance on Arab Americans than in the past. For some it will be like the FBI surveillance of the mafia.
That said, I dont think we should view Arab Americans as the enemy. Most are more patriotic than the sons and daughters of WASP families now attending our most prestigious colleges. Sure they are concerned about potential bombing of certain Muslim countries. If you came from Yoguslavia, you probably would have been concerned about American bombing there, worrying about extended family, etc, but that doesnt mean that you would do anything to hurt the United States.
If Arab Americans turn on the rest of us and become the terrorists you fear, it will not be because the clerics called them to a jihad, it will be fearfull little idiots in this country declare war on them because they dont have enough confidence in our abilty to prevail.

Quran prohibits a Muslim to befriend a non-believer even if that non-believer is the father or the brother of that Muslim (Q. 9: 23), (Q. 3: 28). Quran asks the Muslims to “strive against the unbelievers with great endeavor (Q. 25: 52), be stern with them because they belong to hell (Q. 66: 9). The holy Prophet demanded his follower to “strike off the heads of the disbelievers”; then after making a “wide slaughter among them, carefully tie up the remaining captives” (Q. 47: 4). As for women the book of Allah says that they are inferior to men and their husbands have the right to scourge them if they are found disobedient (Q. 4:34). It teaches that women will go to hell if they are disobedient to their husbands (Q. 66:10). It maintains that men have an advantage over the women (Q. 2:228). It not only denies the women's equal right to their inheritance (Q. 4:11-12), it also regards them as imbeciles and decrees that their witness is not admissible in the court (Q. 2:282). This means that a woman who is raped cannot accuse her rapist unless she can produce a male witness. Muhammad allowed the Muslims to marry up to four views and gave them license to sleep with their slave maids and as many “captive” women as they may have (Q. 4:3). He himself did just that. This is why anytime a Muslim army subdues another nation, they call them kafir and allow themselves to rape their women. Pakistani soldiers raped up to 250,000 Bangali women in 1971 after they massacred 3,000,000 unarmed civilians when their religious leader decreed that Bangladeshis are unislamic. This is why the prison guards in Islamic regime of Iran rape the women and then kill them after calling them apostates and the enemies of Allah.

The reason I think Islam is harmful and must go is not due to the fact that Quran says Earth is flat or the stars are missiles that Allah fires at the jinns who climb the heaven to eavesdrop the conversation of the exalted assembly. These tales could even amuse us. Islam must go because it teaches hate, it orders killing the non-Muslims, it denigrates women and it violates the human rights. I wrote that we need to "look at them." YOU are the one who injected "round them up and deport them" into the mix, which may "win" an argument in your mind, but which derails the discussion.
As to rounding up and deporting, however, I will say, yes, we deport all on VISAS. THEN they can reapply and we can sort it all out. That is a fair and not unprecedented.
That's the logical thing to do for self-preservation, and it's what previous generations would have done---and it is the judgement and actions of previous generations who got us where we are. We won't be so kind to OUR descendants, it seems.
