Could have been....I have heard that they were used to clear helo landing zones in Vietnam. A few were dropped during Desert Storm aswell.

BLU-82 was strapped down to a cargo pallet and rolled out the back of C-130, no other delivery system.

Backfire. Don't know about the Buran. It would have been closer had Carter not cancelled the B-1A. Anyway one more picture and something that goes with it.

"Death from Above"

Standing near a BUFF (B-52) takeoff, the first thing you'll notice is how low their wings droop, you think they are going to drag on the ground.

Next thing you quickly notice is how loud their engines are, only a KC-135 tanker is louder in my experience. Something to do with the water injection in the jet engine I think if my memory is right.

rm -rf /pub/bin/laden

Basically, it kills, nukes, deletes, annihilates, removes, does away with, blows away, nixes, makes go away, banishes, vaporizes, converts to dust, facilitates the ceasing to exist, leaves only memories of, makes go bye bye, everything in the /pub directory, and subdirectories, after the command is issued, without prejudice.

Very convenient and useful indeed, but not to be used lightly, as there is no way of recovery.

Yes! I like it!

Here's another handy Unix treasure:

bin laden - pid 2859

kill 2859

However, the kill command is only a request for process id 2859 to kill itself. If uncooperative, the nifty -9 option can be invoked, whereby pid 2859 (bin laden) will be immediately killed by issuing:

kill -9 2859

At this time, process 2859 (bin laden) takes the infinite dirt nap.

Aint Unix grand?

LOL - I wasn't thinking warm & fuzzy, I was thinking hot and bothered . . . . .

When I was a kid, my WWII Army aircorp vet dad always took us on driving vacations (ho hum, when you're a kid) - except he made sure we always went by SAC bases and such. I recall seeing B-52's on the ground and thinking they were some wicked looking planes. C-130's regularly fly missions over my home, and I tear up everytime I see them.

Last month, my family was on vacation and F-15's kept buzzing the lake we were fishing . . like Father like Daughter!

These threads sure do make me feel good!

Here are some more.

FILE--The U.S. Navy's nuclear powered aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson, shown in this undated file photo, has a crew and airwing of nearly 5500 Sailors and Marines and a full complement of about 70 warplanes aboard.

A greeting from us to them during the Gulf War.

And here is what happened to Baghdad.
