My pictures from the Infinite FReep, so beautifully organized by Kristinn, Hail Caesar and several others. My brain is like a sieve so I don't remember many names, so I've not listed any. Scroll through each page and click on the link at the bottom to see the next page. The FReeping starts here.

Even if Nightline doesn't run it, they are aware of us and that makes it more likely that they cover us next time.

Kudos!

Sounds as fun as the pro-Bush, anti-Gore demos we did in FL & the Midwest!

You only need to click on "Post Reply" once! Double-click means duplicate posts. Also, sometimes it takes the FR server in Fresno, CA, several seconds to respond...

Great Pics, rr. I'm really proud of all my fellow FReepers and what we did together.

Thanks for the ping, DD.

Sorry I trashed your supplies. I will bring some extras to the next DC FReep. I have some ideas about making more permanent sign-holders. (actually my arms got tired holding up posterboard all afternoon, I guess I'm a wimp)

Latest E-Mail from the IAC:

The September 29th Anti-War, Anti-Racist rally and march was a great success with over 20,000 people in attendance arriving from all points around the nation. There were also extremely successful solidarity rallies in the US and abroad that took place on Saturday.

Initially there was skepticism over whether it was too soon or inappropriate to have an anti-war, anti-racism demonstration so soon after the events of September 11th. The overwhelming positive support and endorsements from individuals and organizations representing a broad cross section of the nation and abroad showed that this was not the time to shrink away from the escalating war drive. Rather, it is the time to stand united and show the world that there is a strong, growing anti-war movement both here in the U.S. and in countries around the world.

The vast majority of the participants on Saturday were students and youth from around the country. Their presence reflected a broad spectrum of support from various cultural, social and religious backgrounds.

The International ANSWER Coalition wants to keep the momentum from Saturday going by encouraging all individuals around the country and abroad to organize a day of local and regional actions for October 27th. This way we can continue to build the visibility and voice of this new anti-war movement. We also encourage people to set up ANSWER chapters in their schools, community centers and towns to take on the organizing for this day of action.

We will be developing a factsheet on U.S. policy in the Middle East that will be available very soon on the www.internationalANSWER.org Web site.

C-Span broadcast the rally several times on Saturday and it is still available to view by internet on their Web site. We are encouraging people to email, call and write to C-span to rebroadcast the rally in the coming weeks.

Oh don't worry about the signs. Stuff like that happens all the time; I just try to save what I can. But because Saturday's FReep was SO SUCCESSFUL I didn't have the chance to tell a couple hundred people to drop them back when they were finished. I'm happy to have had more people than signs. (And we can always use more creative freeper minds and hands to make more signs).

One other though about Saturday... on thread #2 a few knuckleheads from the other side were boasting that they could have taken the flags from the Navy Memorial whenever they wanted to, and basically said they had no interest in doing so - thereby saving us the humiliation of a much outnumbered thrashing, or something like that. There's a reason why I just called them knuckleheads, and that's because they completely ignored the obvious defeat that their side suffered. (keep reading, I'm getting to it)

In every other city, and at every other riot they have held, they got away with doing whatever they damn-well pleased because nobody from our side was there to tell them "No !" And don't doubt for a minute that they wouldn't have done the very same thing in DC last Saturday... if we hadn't been there.

They had their interminable speechifying at Freedom Plaza, and they were so full of themselves that they had an advance truck set up a "stage" and huge loudpeaker/PA system at the Navy Memorial before their marchers began traipsing our way. However, once they arrived and saw (and heard) the opposition that they were facing (US), their grand plan to defile the Navy Memorial with more America-hating, commie, anti-war speakers was completely blown out of the water !!

No matter whether we were 100 in number or 200, our voices were heard loud and clear; and we didn't give an inch. Had they tried to put their people up to speak at the Navy Memorial, they would have been drowned out by our voices. FReepers have great lungs !!

So here's their scorecard, as I see it...
1. They got coverage on CSPAN, and people across the USA saw them and their true commie message. Maybe they got a couple of new (braindead) supporters, but at the cost of turning off many, many more than they impressed.
2. They had their full day in the sun, complete with a chance for them to swoon over their commie, America-hating guest speakers.
3. They got some exercise, walking from Freedom Plaza to Senators Park.
4. They got to wear their (sweatshop made) Made in China tie-dyed shirts, and sneakers, and backpacks.
5. They got to pretend that they were somebody, if only for just one day.
6. They got to burn some American flags (their own, because they weren't allowed to steal any) but they didn't dare do it when they were in front of us at the Memorial.

Here's what they didn't get (because we were there)...
1. They didn't get to run rampant down Pennsylvania Avenue, tearing down and burning the US flags that have lined the streets for three weeks.
2. They didn't get to break storefront windows, or flip over cars, or set fire to them.
3. Their message to the media had a counterpoint on the street that hasn't been there before.
4. They didn't get the chance to insult the memory of those Navy (and Marine) men and women who are honored at the Memorial.
5. They didn't get a free pass in DC last weekend. We FReeped 'em but good!
