Colorful Free Republic Daily Site Statistics
Posted on 10/08/2001 6:49:29 AM PDT by John Robinson
With the conclusion of last week, two years of Free Republic site statistics are now available for comparison. Watch the forum grow 300-400% in those two years. A remarkable achievement for a site advertised almost solely word-of-mouth.
Click here to dazzle yours eyes and mind. A bountiful cornucopia, statistically pleasing, matrix of pure joy awaits.

At the behest of a few influential (at least to me) members, I have recolored the "dreary tomb" that was once the statistics report. Winter-fresh green, anyone?
To: John Robinson
I only see a purple haze, no data.

Same here. Using Netscape, if that helps?
To: John Robinson
what happenned on the 17th? Did I miss an FR picnic or something?
To: John Robinson
Ditto no data.
Glad to know I'm not alone or blind.
To: golitely, ethical
Netscape cannot endure unending tables. How's it look now with that final table closed? (I was just testing you Netscape guys, yeah, that's it.)
To: John Robinson
I can bring it up in Opera, but not in Netscape.
To: John Robinson
I see data - green data! CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP...

Its very interesting to see that FR is as busy lately as it was in December and yet it runs
so much more smoothly. You guys should be proud of the work you have done.
BTW the pages look fine in IE.
To: rainingred
Works on clunky old AOL
To: francisandbeans
It was my birthday on 9/17.
We had an FR party, sorry you couldn't make it!
To: John Robinson
Beautiful! In living color here! Once again, FR at the cutting edge!

To: John Robinson
Good work.
Got it in Netscape!
Impressive.
To: John Robinson
How come when I open the page, a popup ad comes up?...something about signing up for some website called Democratic Underground and sending money to UNICEF.
Font color=white>.
. heheh
To: John Robinson
Truly the haute coutre of tables....BRAVO! You will be the envy of all computer dudes!
To: Straight Vermonter
Thanks. FR is running on some really keen new servers. They were installed Jan 8th or so of this year. I've also been clearing out some bottlenecks as they turn up.
To: homegroan
What do you mean will be? :-)
To: John Robinson
Wow! Looks great on my old Netscape 4.7
Mighty impressive!

Could you explain the difference between "Distinct URLs" and "Distinct Hosts". I'm just not savvy enough to understand. Is the large number of Hosts mean that there are tens of thousand of individual lurkers out there in cyber-land?
Thanks

Coloricious! I like it! Yes, it is very tasty. Not too loud. And has a pleasant smooth texture. Synesthetic!
To: John Robinson
I know you've been hounded to death with requests lately, but it sure would help if you could break down the signups into GENUINES and DISRUPTORS. :-)

Excuse me, while I kiss the sky.

- Distinct Hosts
-
This is the approximate number of readers of Free Republic for the day. (An over-simplification, the details are gory.)
- Distinct URLs
-
This is the count of unique URL addresses (destinations, pages) served by Free Republic. Each URL address is counted only once.
When this number spikes, it's a fair indication that a web search engine (like google) has been indexing Free Republic.)

My boss has sent me home for the day because I have been licking the screen (tastes GREAT!)OTOH, licking the screen is actually a written job requirement for me.
My ionized tongue. O, my ionized tongue.
To: John Robinson
I just posted some of the stats on a UseNet NewsGroup. Gotta publicize how popular the FR is.

Great job Jim. The charts are very informative. And that winter fresh green? Who could ask for anything more?
To: Howlin
I know you've been hounded to death with requests lately, but it sure would help if you could break down the signups into GENUINES and DISRUPTORS. :-)How about GENIUSES and DORKMEISTERS.
Wile E. Lazamataz, Genius.
To: John Robinson
Distinct HostsHuh.
And all this time I thought Distinct Hosts were individual Communion Wafers.
To: John Robinson
Thanks John, I appreciate the explanation.
Keep up the great work that you do. This place is hummin' along smooth as glass.

I like the distinct posters chart. Now if we could just have a list of
indistinct posters.....(just a joke and not necessarily a good one, either)
;)
