As a serving miltary man, it nevers fails to amaze me how many "conspiracy theory type" postings can be generated on forums and newsgroups in regards to one image. The media, this time, got this photograph caption completely correct. Unfortunately targeting accidents do happen. The US Navy has admitted that they struck the Red Cross warehouse in Kabul thinking that it was not in use and had been taken over by the Taliban. Of the two weapons that were released by the US Navy onto the compound one failed to detonate and is now lying near to the Red Cross compound. Unexploded Ordnance is a fact of war. Of the many thousands that detonate there is always a fairly large number that don't. Kosovo is littered with unexploded ordnance.

The mystery is solved! I still dont get why the front of the bomb appears to be bent. I would (have) bet my life that a mk84 would break open before bending. P.S. Any light blue colored mk82 or mk84 is filled with cement, Air Force or Navy.
