Wow, the same complaint that every self-righteous bastard makes about the civilization in which they live since time immemorial. Civilizations do not fall for reasons of popular entertainment. They fall when they do stupid sh*t beyond their capacity to absorb the impact of their stupdity.
This defeatist jerk is pathetic.

What's Left of America is no longer good. One more pessimistic, negative diatribe by another sky is falling-chicken little blabber. Blab on bucko!
Human beings exist to overcome the difficulties and adversities of life. Even those caused by an evil few. The battle never ends. I believe God continues to bless America and for good reason. We aren't a perfect people, but if we continue to support and promote the ideals laid down in our historical documents by some very wise men, we will remain a great nation. We American's may stumble on occasion, but we have proven that no problem is insurmountable and nothing is impossible to accomplish. Everytime America has put out the effort, we have realized victory. Nothing new about that.
Get off your high horse and join the rest of us good folks here in America. You may find out, all is not lost.

Thank you for the post, Starmaker. Sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll do not make for great nations, or Rome would still be doing well. We in the formerly religious countries of Western civilization have moved our roots from the 'Rock' to the sand. We as a country will be 'swept away', but the remnant will remain as His Chosen, until his return in glory.(IMHO)

Yo Reagan Man. I tend to agree with you. While reading some of that article I was struck by one thing. In my quest to get a college degree, I took an English course a couple semesters back that was about English Literature. A lot of the authors and poets were from the turn of the 20th century, and most harped on the same themes as this article does today. We are slouching toward the end, and so on. What's your take on that?

"What a stupid, ignorant article. But some will buy it because the guy quotes Scripture."Only mind-numbed liberal socialists would be braindead enough to eat this garbage.

Substitute verses from the Koran for Biblical verses and you have a bin Laden sermon here.

Not a few poets at the end of the 19th century were occultists. For example, W.B. Yeats, Aleister Crowley and Somerset Maugham were all members of the Order of the Golden Dawn (so was the brilliant military theorist, J.F.C., Fuller). These folks felt that a new era in history began with the advent of the 20th century, and that its birth would be a violent one. In the context of an era expected to last a few thousand years, we are still in the midst of that painful and violent birth.

Yes. The problem is ... they are all watching it. I'm not convinced this article is totally correct. I AM convinced that this nation does not have the moral courage and will to fight the war that needs to be fought. See my #20.

I appreciate you trying to save my soul, but I feel confident in my beliefs and at peace with the Almighty.
Every generation believes we are living in the end days and todays generation is no different. However some of us see life from a different vantage point. We try to approach daily events with a more uplifted spirit and a more positive attitude then that exhibited by others.
Perhaps we might still turn from our idolatry and be given the chance to be the 'good' you speak of fighting the 'evil' that sweeps across the earth. I don't see it.
I see it very clearly. My faith compels me to see it.
I will remain the eternal optimist.

America Already Trashed
How can that be? He makes an observation that all Christendom has a death wish and is committing suicide. And out of that follishness comes: he has nothing better to do than trash "western" civilization? Only after you see blood in American streets, has her free fall ended.

Jesus, Inc. is producing this stuff so quickly, it's hard to keep up with it all. Just another protection racket trying to propagate its meme: ``do what we tell you or a worse religion will come along and devour you.''

Yes, political correctness is our weakness and the enemy's strength. That's one major reason among many why political correctness as a sociopolitical philosophy must die. Such flights of leftist fancy and blithering idiocy as well as basal hypocrisy are the product of socialist leisure societies that have reached a certain level wherein such stupidity can be given legitimacy, and time for such nonsense is possible despite its insane and detrimental effect. The paradox is that these ideologies can only exist in the societies that they seek to denounce, criticize, and ultimately dismantle. The only anology to such a situation in nature is malignant cancer that attacks the host from which it sprang, killing it and itself in the process. Political correctness is the "intellectual" equivalent of a terminal illness. Its death, along with the death of terrorism, is not only crucial, but mandatory.

So Chuck Berry is the hallmark of the Apocalypse. Chuck Berry??! Nah, we all know that Elvis Presley is the one to get the blame (and, by extension, Forrest Gump).
Someone, I don't remember who, wrote an interesting essay sometime back wherein it was claimed that two people were responsible for completely changing the direction of American culture: Elvis Presley and Hugh Hefner. Might even be in the archives here at FR somewhere...

Eugene, you certainly keep me on my toes. According to my search "Hamas" stands for "Islamic Resistance Movement" and means either "zeal" or "strength or bravery" in Arabic. Maybe somebody else can check the Hebrew. Hamas certainly aren't good guys, as reading their
manifesto will reveal.
But here's the thing. People were apprehensive about entering the wars of the last century for fear that we would become what we fought against: imperialist and statist, fascist or national socialist, communist or international socialist. Now you tell us that to win this war we have to essentially adopt the enemy's values and way of life. Except that our God will have a different name. There's a lot to criticize in contemporary American morals. But going back to the angry, jealous, violent God who orders us to smite our neighbors and even our own children for no other reason than to make his own power and greatness manifest, would not be an improvement.
